Soda Pocket Campground

I prefer dispersed camping, but this was alright for an overnight stay. Quiet for the most part…until the camper near by kicked their generator on from 9:30-10pm. Clean, well kept and nice walk to the trail head. Not suitable for tents, but nice if you have a camper or are car camping.

Beautiful camping area. Corrugated dirt road climb to get there. Clean, quiet, peaceful, cooler than the surrounding areas.

Stayed here for two nights in May on our way elsewhere. Access to the campground is uphill via an unpaved road. The gate at the bottom of the road closes in the evenings (we didn't leave while it was closed, but I believe the code they give you on the tables is for the gate). The campsites were clean (seemed pretty new-ish, or at least not abused/weathered), with covered tables and bear lockers, and there were plenty of vault toilets. All of the campsites are very much geared toward vehicle camping with no tent pads, but we went ahead and set up our tent on the end of the gravel driveway of our site. As mentioned, no water at the campsite (only at Lake Alice Campground). The campground abuts the slope toward the top of the mesa and overlooks the rest of the canyon, and it can get fairly windy (and loud) at night. We had to get a little creative with guying out the tent in the cramped area close to the picnic table. Our stay was very quiet, with no disturbances from the few other campers that were there. Our neighbor didn't even actually seem to use their campsite the entire time. We only briefly explored the other areas of the park, but the shower facility close to the entrance of the park was adequate — it was clean and had hot water, but the shower fixtures seemed like they could use a little help.

Great campsite. #2 and #3 are the best. Good tree cover and next to meadow that attracts Elk and Deer.
