Soldier Mountain is a hidden gem nestled in some of the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen. All of the staff were super friendly and welcoming. The lodge was nice and had a great view of the mountain. The food was good and had huge portions. The bar had a great selection. The terrain is really fun but fair warning, the greens are not easy greens. Tons of groomed blacks and blues with lots of options for off piste as well. I was still getting first tracks on fresh corduroy at closing time. No huge crowds and just an overall great atmosphere. The sign next to the menu said “the soup of the day is corn chowder. The dog’s name is Alice.” Alice will greet you in the parking lot and also is sure to clean up any food you drop on the floor in the lodge.
What an awesome time! It’s nice and peaceful. There’s some fun cat tracks and it’s expanding soon so that’s fun! The owners are amazing, plus they have a cute lodge dog!
A true hidden gem. It's such a low key resort, a good storm will offer fresh pow for at least a week. Tell your friends, just don't bring them on a pow day, lol!
This resort is awesome! We came from Utah for a couple days and had an absolute blast! Staff and ski patrol were so friendly. Had my kids do a lesson to tune up for the year and the instructors were so helpful, my son said it was the best instructor he has been to! The resort was nice and well maintained. I wish this was closer to us so we could go every weekend! Best part is I didnt feel like I was being bent over and taken advantage of on the price like most the resorts in utah that are close to our house! We went early season so wasn't a ton of snow yet but they had the machines running and had plenty for the groomed trails! Can't wait to go back up and do some snow cat skiing with them!
Overall impression: Soldier Mountain is great for a very relaxed hometown-style ski day. We dropped by on a long weekend, so expected to find crowds, but were very pleased to find the resort busy but still very relaxed. We never stood in a line longer than 6 chairs deep. The snow was great, so we really enjoyed ourselves in the off-piste terrain. The groomed runs were very nice as well. We're planning another trip out to Soldier later this season!
