I spent 4 days in Solis 2 in the summer of 2019. I'll start off with this; if you're planning to go in the summer, be prepared. It regularly gets above 100F and sometimes above 110. There is no cell service or wifi at this site. Okay, on to the site itself. SO2 is a pretty large, flat area. I had no issues getting a small camper trailer in and backing it around. You may have to zig-zag around some trees and bushes on the way in and you may get scratches on your vehicle. SO1 is not too far away, but it is far enough that you most likely won't know someone is there. There is a berm between SO1 and SO2 and I didn't see any lights or hear any people even though it was occupied. There really isn't a lot to explore in the immediate area. A walk south, though, and you'll be at the Rio Grande. There is a parking area near the river, so folks may pass by the site. Ask about road conditions before venturing out to SO2. You may not need 4wd, but high clearance vehicles are strongly recommended due to crossing dry stream beds and gullies.

Jan2021 we saw 5 night drones along River and nearby hills for 50-90 minutes. Reported to Rangers whose return letters said never heard anything then read Fed stories of mini drones on border near trouble spots. After considering Narcos, stray cattle 🐄, and our reserved camp 🏕️ permit, we believe they were watching out for us as a robbery incident happened 2-3 weeks prior about 7-9 miles to the West, that campsite area was closed. Wade can correct my dates facts etc. 🤓

Secluded and great flat spot. Had private access to the Rio Grande for kayaking down the Mariscal Canyon. One of the best camping trips I’ve ever been on.
