Probably the nicest, well kept campgrounds in the south Island. First come first serve (the way all campgrounds should be). The river is beautiful and fun to hangout in. The washrooms are spacious and maintained. Garbage and recycling on the grounds. Cheap rates. Highly recommend.
Best thing about this place is the water! The staff are very kind and the spots were great except the wasps. My pregnant daughter got stung :(
The bicycle sites are in the former “group site” so offer a sheltered eating area and social atmosphere, but the 4 tent pads are squished together. It would be great if the pads could eventually be spaced out. Now the cycling sites have 4 bear caches, one for each tent pad; and if you bring a padlock you can lock away your valuables! I find this is a wonderful campsite; quiet, clean, and decently priced. I’ve never had issues with noisy campers here, normally it’s very quiet and family-oriented. A great overnight bike trip when you need to get out of the city for a bit.
Great setting and all no hassle campground. Lots of space for larger tents. Lots of water taps and bathrooms. No showers or laundry services.
Campsites are a bit small for a larger RV. The swimming is excellent here and the people who work here were nice.
