So Cow Mountain is a lot of fun but it's not a joke. If you can avoid it don't go out there alone. Pay attention to the ratings on the trails. Make sure that you are properly equipped with a winch and recovery gear. If you insist on exploring trails 23 and 25 make sure you have at least one other vehicle with you.
Great place to camp and play. The dirt road to the red mountain campground can get a little rough, 4WD is recommended, especially if you're towing. Non 4wd can make it, just much much slower. Campground has vault toilets, tables and fire pits and trash cans. It is well maintained and popular with the OHV/ATV enthusiasts. Tons of trails to ride on, and a few neat features, like a safety obstacle course and a warm up loop. North Cow mountain has a rifle range so some shots are heard while camping here. Fun place to be.
Great area. BLM land so lots you can do.. but Limited Campfire use during summer times (signs will be posted at entrances and staging areas).. and limited access during wet times. Call 468-4000 for current gate access info. MANY miles of trails from easy/green to very difficult/double diamond.. trails widths from single track, to ATV width, to dual track for Side by Sides, Jeeps and Trucks. Maps can be had at staging areas, and online at BLM website. There is no water at staging area or campgrounds, bring plenty.
South Cow is great! Watching the burn scar heal has been quite the experience, and it's so nice to see the respect from others up here this year. It's very clean, and tho the road seems to have gotten really rough really quick, it's not from people tearing it up intentionally, more from lack of skills maneuvering on steep dirt roads with a trailer loaded down. Please drive And recreate with care, stay well, friends 🌼
Nice place to go camping. Lots of tracks for ATV and SXS lots of fun easy to hard trails all signed for difficulty levels. Camp sites all have restrooms. Some have grills others don’t have grills but fire pits yes. Also no water. Besides that lots of fun and great views. Beware of GPS apple or google they are misleading and Can get you lost on trails that are not meant to drive with trailers.
