Stopped on a roadside parking while driving from San Francisco to Lake Tahoe in May. The majestic river captivated us, prompting an impromptu stop. The scenic beauty was unparalleled, and we decided to spend a few moments by the banks. We took advantage of the picturesque setting and enjoyed some snacks while the river flowed gracefully beside us. The experience was truly refreshing and added an unexpected highlight to our journey.
This place us awesome!!! I went hiking here around the end of March. There were beautiful wildflowers everywhere. The hike to the river was beautiful. The perfect place for a afternoon trip. Just be careful swimming the water runs really fast here.
You can catch a mild 4 hr ride if you roll through the quiet section of the middle of the South Fork. Make sure you bring a paddle to help you through the slow sections and plenty of sunscreen as the rays are unforgiving on the water.
Driving from Tahoe to SF on Highway 50. Pulled off a few times because this river was pretty spectacular.
Must places to visit, river rafting and spending days in the cabins around ...great place to click photos ...very impressed !
