South Fork Campground is an ideal destination for camping enthusiasts, offering a unique experience under a canopy of stars. The campground features 8-10 campsites, each providing a serene environment where you can relax to the soothing sounds of the river and the chirping of insects. The area is known for its excellent fly fishing opportunities, especially after the ice melt slows down, making it a favorite spot for anglers.
One of the standout features of South Fork Campground is its seclusion. The journey to the campground is an adventure in itself, with a single-lane dirt road that winds along the river. Definitely secluded from everything, no cell service and a long descend on a one way gravel road, trailers aren’t recommended unless they are under 12’ in length. Great spot for fly fishing just make sure you go after the ice melt slows down. Make sure your car has enough gas, be prepared for bears too
This is a lovely secluded campground. The road is a single lane dirt road with gravel which follows the river. You get to sleep under a million stars to the sound of the Toulumne river and insects. There are a few cats roaming around. There are about 8-10 campsites and 1 restroom with a pit toilet.
It's about a 7 mile descend to the camp sites. It's a jeep road but if my 2011 Sonata can do it any vehicle can. Each campsite is next to the river. Pretty cool!
Good collection of sites at the end of the line on this fire road. The gate leading past is closed due to a wash out ahead. All have bear proof lockers, picnic table and fire ring. You can hear one of the rivers rushing nearby
Clean and quiet, was the only visitor. Road to campsite is a bit rough, would not recommend for all vehicles
