South Fork Red River Campground in the Red River Gorge Introduce

Welcome to South Fork Red River Campground, your ideal destination for outdoor enthusiasts seeking a peaceful yet convenient camping experience in the beautiful Red River Gorge. Nestled at 7899 Campton Rd, Stanton, KY 40380, our campground offers a unique blend of natural beauty and practical amenities, making it a favorite among adventurers, nature lovers, and groups looking for an outdoor retreat.

Our campground is perfect for those who appreciate the simplicity of primitive camping combined with essential facilities. Whether you're planning a solo trip, a family outing, or organizing a group event, South Fork Red River Campground provides the space and resources needed to make your stay memorable. The owners are known for their kindness and support, particularly for events like the annual small bore group ride, showcasing their commitment to fostering community and outdoor activities.

Facilities at our campground include portable toilets strategically placed throughout the site and a water spigot located near the highway for easy access. The open and flat areas are ideal for larger groups or staging events, as noted by many visitors. We encourage campers to choose their sites carefully due to the presence of dead trees along the riverbank.

While we strive to provide a serene environment, it's important to note that there is no on-site staff. Campers should be mindful of noise levels in the evening hours, as neighboring groups may stay up late. Despite this minor drawback, our campground remains a top choice for those who value independence and the freedom of an unstaffed site.

Customer feedback highlights our welcoming atmosphere and scenic surroundings. Many appreciate the peaceful setting and the opportunity to connect with nature. The partnerships we have with charitable organizations like Operation Charlie Bravo KY further enhance our commitment to giving back, particularly through events organized by groups such as MR ORIGINAL CONCEPT GARAGE.

If you're looking for an authentic camping experience in a picturesque location, South Fork Red River Campground is the perfect choice. Whether you're exploring the Red River Gorge's trails, enjoying a quiet evening under the stars, or participating in group events, our campground offers something for everyone. We look forward to welcoming you and helping you create lasting memories in this beautiful part of Kentucky.

We are very thankful for our stay at the campground last year for the (small bore @ The Gorge) annual group ride here in Kentucky! The owner was so kind to let us come to stay at the site. It was perfect for what we needed! It has lots of space to stage the event! The owner is very cool as I enjoyed talking with him last year. He definitely wanted us coming back this year, to which he showed great excitement when I asked about doing so! The Group Ride Was Founded By Patrick Wayne Muse A Fellow Kentucky Riding Enthusiasts We Partner With. A good primitive campground with large flat open areas ideal for a larger youth group. Portable toilets were spaced throughout the campground and a water spigot was available near the highway. There are several dead trees along the riverbank, so choose your campsite and tent areas wisely. The campground was not very busy on a peak weekend in October. Knocking one star since there isn't any staff on-site and neighbors can be bit loud late into the night.

Overall a nice place, there’s cheap firewood and each official Tent camp site has a fire pit ready. It stays cool in the shade and by the river and gets pretty cold at night.

Nice primitive camp ground. Fire wood for sale across the street. Close to the red river gorge.
