I like this camp because it is so far from the highway 49 and it is cheap. Last time I was here several years ago, it was only $5 a night. The downside is that is is not an easy access to the river, although there is a hiking trail that parallels the dirt road - back to Edwards Crossing bridge. Mid week, I slept in peace and quiet. Met a hippy couple and had dinner with them, cuz campfires were not allowed - due to high fire dangers. This place is a great base-camp for exploring the Malakoff Diggins State Park, North Bloomfield, Yuba River and numerous other historic mining sites around Tyler Foote Rd and Alleghany Mine.

Nice and quiet. Good campsites and hiking trails. Best approached from the north if you're driving a vehicle over 7000 lbs (bridge says 4 ton limit, but it felt more like it should be a 2 ton limit).

Perfect for camping and the river is just a 35 minute walk from the campsite. Perfect for a morning walk.

You do Not need a high clearance vehicle to get here. Yes it’s a gravel road but it’s well graded, any car can make it. Just clarifying from another commenter below.
