Historic covered bridge overlooking the South Fork of the Yuba River up in the Grass Valley area. It gets hot, so bring water. Plenty of parking in multiple spots, some is paid parking so bring cash. You can do short hikes down to the Yuba Rover. Bring all of your own food, towels, toys and chairs..and take it all out with you please! Limited to zero amenities. Restrooms are there. Nice place to spend a full or partial day. Use common sense.

Nice little state park with the South Yuba River flowing through it. Cool covered bridge that used to be a toll road and a small interpretive center. It looked like a good swimming spot (close to the shore). There's a nice flat spot with a few picnic tables.

We visted in the winter - so there wasn't any swimming. There are historical sights around the visitor center. We hiked Point Defiance, starting with the southern route. The first mile is up and down, with many exits to explore the river. At the end of the mile is a large picnic area, with various tables including some covered ones. Then, its about a mile straight up hill. However, once you get to the top, it flattens out and a slow decline which is very rewarding.

This is a must come and enjoy the clear waters of this fantastic river where you can swim, jump of big rocks or just relax on the rushing waters.
