This is our second year staying at Balsam Woods. It's become our favorite campground for several reasons. The staff are really great. The facilities are clean and just enough for an enjoyable camping experience -- both for the adults and children in our party. We had a campsite, and a few of us also stayed in one of the deluxe cabins -- which were lovely (but could use better mattresses on the bunks). We love the easy access to lakes/ponds, & trails. Despite it being a campground with lots of trail riders, they were respectful and quiet. We are for sure coming back to this campground.
This is a beautiful campground. We enjoyed staying here and having different adventures while here. We had a wonderful experience with the staff and neighbors. We loved going riding, enjoyed apple picking, going to Acadia National Park, going to the Common Ground Country Fair & to Camden. All we're easy access from here and so much more...
We stayed here one night in October in a travel trailer after spending a couple of days in the Moosehead Lake area. It was raining heavily while we were there so we didn't spend much time exploring. The facilities were clean and the parking spaces were treed which provided a measure of privacy. Our parking site was also very large. Our dog became ill and it delayed our departure the next morning. The campground management was understanding of our late checkout. It was a nice campground and I would certainly stay there again if in the area.
We brought two units up to camp with friends. We had 4 adults and 6 kids in total. We stayed Labor Day weekend and really enjoyed the campground! The only suggestion we have is to keep the store open later on 3-day weekends. We were disappointed that the store closed at 4pm on Sunday. We were looking forward to grabbing Fried Dough and ice cream during the live music. Otherwise, the facilities were great and loved all the activities! We will definitely be back!
The sites were spacious and clean. The office/store hours said 11 to 5. They were never open those hours. One day only opened up for 30 minutes. Other days may have been 2 to 3 hours tops. Cooler was empty. Fuel station empty all week. Bathrooms/showers were not cleaned all week. Quater machines for laundry were empty. Attendant was barely around.
