Spacious Skies Campgrounds - Bear Den

This place was absolutely amazing! We camped from January 13 to 17, 2025. As Floridians, we were hoping to see snow—and wow, did we ever! The campsite was breathtaking, covered in a beautiful blanket of white. The staff was incredibly attentive and welcoming, making our experience even more special. We highly recommend this place. We were truly moved by the resilience of the people here—despite all they’ve been through, they have so much to offer.

We stayed at the Honey Bear Cabin on the edge of the Creek. We loved it. Cabin is super cozy and ideal for up to 3 people. Creek runs right on the back of the cabin and running water noise makes it very peaceful place. For hiking lovers, Bear Den offer various trails to explore and a great infrastructure. Spruce Pine is just 20 minutes away and you can get everything you need in there.

This was our first stay with Spacious Skies. I can not say enough positive things about Bear Den. The area is extremely beautiful and the campsites are private, clean and so peaceful. The staff was more than competent and welcoming. There was a specific groundskeeper and , forgive me for not getting his name, he wore a hearing device, and WAS ONE OF THE MOST HELPFUL PEOPLE WE HAVE MET EVER WHILE TRAVELING:) The facilities were overly clean and stocked. The lake and fishing area was immaculate. I did not see one piece of litter or animal waste anywhere. Y'all set our expectations for Spacious Skies and because of you, we booked 4 additional stays at other SS locations within the next month. Thank you for a memorable stay!!

Spacious Skies Bear Den is my definition of perfect campground! It is stunning here! Large level sites, great amenities, well appointed cabins. I am so impressed with the staff and the work that has been done to repair the campground post Helene. Once the trees have been completely cleared you will never know what happened. It is still surrounded by beautiful forest and provides lots of shade.

By far the best campground we have ever stayed at in the past 35 years. Well maintained, staff was super friendly and helpful, tons of things to do right at the campground or just chill at your peaceful campsite. Spectacular long range mountain views right down the street. Fellow campers were very respectful. We will be back again this year we loved it so much!
