Spacious Skies Campgrounds - Hidden Creek

After reading some of the previous reviews, I was a bit skeptical about my family's upcoming stay. I'm glad that I didn't let the negative reviews sway my decision to stay at the campground. My family stayed in the C area of the campground. Yes, this is the side of a fairly steep hill. Leveling our rig side to side required bringing the passenger side up about 4 inches. While I do agree that perhaps more of an attempt can be made to add additional gravel (or grade the driver side down a bit more) to level the site, it wasn't the end of the world for us. The site we were assigned was a pull through and in the open (not a wooded back in site). The issue some have brought up regarding having to pay for WiFi wasn't a big deal for my family as Verizon's coverage was solid at our site.; LTE and 5Guw was available and we had zero issues with it. Additionally, another review had mentioned that there was a fee for use of the campground pool. My family doesn't typically use this amenity at campgrounds we stay at, therefore, we're pretty much neutral on this; we'd treat something like the pool as Gem Mining or having to pay a few bucks to play mini-golf. The two issues kept me from giving this location 5 stars were... 1. Improper site to map location. It's possible that I misread the map; however, we arrived at night and the site circled on the map matched the site number we were given but the actual site was incorrectly numbered in the map. Simple fix for this would be to swap the site plates to match the map. Since we had booked a pull through site it wasn't hard to determine the what the issue was. 2. While the bath houses aren't cleaned daily, I would recommend emptying the garbage daily and making sure the shower stalls are free of any sort of garbage someone else may've left behind. This looks to be an older and well maintained campground. We enjoyed our stay in sub freezing temperatures! We were very happy to see how fast the staff repaired a waterline that had ruptured during the night causing water pressure issues down stream. Overall, if we visit the area again...My family and I would definitely consider staying here again.

So many great improvements have been done here. Super friendly/helpful staff. We has the best time Halloween weekend passing out treats to all the kids. Looking forward to future visits.

We've stayed at Hidden Creek many times both in the cabins and since weve bought a camper. We love the laid back atmosphere. The new updates to the grounds are wonderful. Staff is super friendly and always helpful. We enjoy our stays at Hidden Creek!

My mom used to bring me here when it was yogi bear about 23 years ago. Now that I have my own kids and a camper we have carried on the traditions. We just left from our 5th stay and have nothing but good to say about this place. The kids have an absolute ball from the time they open their eyes to the time they pass out by the fire that night. They seem to have a whole new set of staff from the last time we were there and they are top notch! Hands down the friendliest staff we have met yet. Devan was great and very attentive to any issues that came up. Highly recommend.

Nice campground and good spots. Pretty level and bathrooms/showers are good. Seemed a lot of them in the top loop were out of order. Got VERY full on Friday, not really our scene. Pool, lake, and water slide are all nice and enjoyable to use. Firewood for sale was not dry, laughable wet and not great for the campfire even though stored inside. Wasn't told bathroom/shower door code at check in, and it took awhile to track someone down that knew it since we got in close to end of check in time. Location of campground is good, we went to the caverns and some surrounding hiking trails.

What a great trip. We at the last minute changed from a tent site to a cabin and they were more than accommodating at changing our reservation. The cabin was clean and spacious even with 8 of us on the trip. There was plenty of fun things for our family. My kids loved the jumping pillow and the canoes and paddle bikes. Will definitely be making a return trip.

This is our 3rd year visiting a Spacious Skies campground and Hidden creek was by far the best one yet. We had an amazing time-especially our kids and we can’t wait to go come back. We had 1 little hiccup with the golf cart but our issue was resolved the next day. 10/10 would recommend.

My family (wife and three kids) and some extended family stayed here recently, and we came away quite disappointed. First of all, we were all supposed to be in two cabins next to each other, but we were put in cabins separated by a giant hill. Then, the basketball court and tetherball that were advertised on the website turned out to be nothing more than 2 empty posts. No basket or goal on the basketball post, and no tether or ball on the tetherball post. The kitchen/lounge area in the cabins did not have A/C, so they were very hot. One of our window A/C units was not working upon our arrival, though I will say that the staff responded promptly and replaced it. There were stains on several of the sheets and not enough bedding for all of the beds. The playground area was overgrown with weeds and looked neglected. Gutters were overflowing with debris and had small trees growing out of them. Overall, it just seems like this property has seen better days and is not kept up very well. We were able to enjoy ourselves in the pool and on the slide, and the campsite is not too far from Linville Caverns, which is worth a visit, but there was a lot about our stay that was subpar. We will not be returning.

Early in the season so there was no ability to use the pool or slide. It would be nice if the office was open later into the day. The upper part of the campground was busy and full. Many diesel vehicles traveling thru but happy they have a place to stay as part of the restoration process. The cabin we stayed in had minimal household items. Plan before you travel.

So sad that we will not be camping here again. 1st time was a nice trip the next trip was just okay and this past trip was a joke. We were put in a gravel lot with workers there helping the mountains so along with all the others on top of the mountain it was a 5:30 wake up call every morning to diesel trucks. There was a huge puddle of standing water around our site that looked to be coming from maybe a broken water line to the permanent unit occupied camper beside us. The canoes and trash were all at the opposite end of the lake and the "game" room is terrible. We were entertained our whole stay by a side by side that raced through the campground with no regards to campers or noise. I do not like giving bad reviews but maybe it will reach Spacious Skies and they will try to resolve some of the issues. If not oh well.
