Sparrow Bend River Retreat

This is our second camping trip and Sparrow Bend River Retreat definitely did not disappoint! Panoramic views of the beautiful river with clear waters. We camped at camp site #4. Plenty of space. Lots of privacy. Some trees around for shade. They have outdoor showers that are comfortable and restrooms that are very clean as well. It was so calm and peaceful out there. Perfect location to unplug and unwind. We will definitely be back.

Just got back from a stay at the Casa Topo cabin at the Sparrow Bend campground. The cabin was much nicer than I expected (see photos). There were 7 in our party and the accommodation did not feel cramped in the slightest. The facility was very nice and had direct access to the river. As far as rentals are concerned there are several tent campsites, couple of RV sites and several cabins. You can also rent tubes for the river, a variety of camp games and they even have firewood for sale. This was a great location and a very relaxing time was had.

We recently stayed at Casa Avecita, a cozy riverfront cottage at SparrowBend in Lakehills, Texas. We really enjoyed our time there. It was truly an amazing experience! The breathtaking 8 acres on the banks of the Medina River provided a tranquil and natural setting for us to completely disconnect. The wall-to-wall windows overlooking the crystal-clear river were simply mesmerizing. We loved being able to walk to the private riverfront beach for swimming, tubing and kayaking. Casa Avecita is a hidden gem, and we highly recommend it to anyone seeking a unique and peaceful retreat. Also, it’s pet friendly 🤩 Angela, the best host ever. P.S. Spent several awesome days here with my son and his family. With drought conditions drying up the Medina River, this place will probably always have water because it’s spring fed. 3 cabins and 2 RV spots on 8 acres, means no one is crowded on top of you. One cabin is a 4 bedroom double wide trailer with wrap around porch. Bath house and restroom facilities are new and clean.

I’ve been meaning to make this review for a while now as are trip has came and went. But I’d like to say this was by far one of the nicest little cabins we have stayed in. We stayed in the tiny cabin and for it being a 1 bed room with a pull out couch it really fit us 4 very comfortably. The ac wasn’t the best during the day but that is no fault of the host as it was the middle of august and 110 outside. At night it definitely got a lot cooler almost too cold. So again no fault of the host but fully texas weather being so harsh right now. So maybe bring an extra fan during the day. Also to add the water was warmer and lower than we wished for but again not the host fault at all. Unfortunately most of texas is in a drought currently and it’s really effecting everywhere but we did still have plenty of water to play in and cool down with. And kayaking wasn’t alot but we did get to see plenty of the area with the bits we did have! I would highly suggest wearing water shoes with a good non slip grip only because with water levels so low right now the rocks are pretty slick inside the water with mud further down the river. The wild life was super nice to see super early in the morning and late at night. No snakes or spiders that we saw only a few turtles fish and deer. Oh and a little black house cat who was super sweet whenever you had food to give. Other then that the cabin itself was truly great and fun and they seriously had anything and everything you could possibly need from towels to pots and pans to spices and a coffee maker they even had dog bowls around the camp sights for dogs and the outside showers and toilets where really nicely kept! Also the host was very attentive and quick to help any way possible! Truly this place was a little slice of heaven and will definitely recommend to anyone and will be returning again just maybe a little earlier in the summer next time though.

Very nice camp on the river. 2 Overlanding Rigs and a trailer camped at Riverfront 3. Plenty of room , beautiful views , and enough water in River to cool down on hot summer day.
