Customer Reviews
Peaceful campground on beautiful Lake McDonald. The camp host was amazing and super knowledgeable. Tent camping only here. Running water in the restrooms. Serene campground about ten miles from the west side entrance Going to the Sun Road. Loved it!
Great little campground in Glacier National Park. It is about a mile south of Lake McDonald Lodge and situated between Going To The Sun Road and Lake McDonald so you do hear the road traffic but you have amazing views of Lake McDonald and access to the lake. The bathrooms are clean and there is potable water. The campsites are nice, some better than others. The other half of the campground is a picnic area. It has a couple of kayak/canoe/sup launch sites. Overall a very laid back and quiet campground. And the camp host, Jane, is very friendly, helpful and wonderful. So far it is my favorite campground in Glacier!
Small campground next to Lake McDonald. You will have quite a bit of road noise and the bear boxes are awkwardly spaced, making it feel like you are in a neighbor's spot and using their box. Lots of shade and a trail down to the lake for easy access.
A nice site that is well kept and clean. There are dedicated car camping sites ($20/night) that are ALL first-come first-serve, so make sure to come super early to secure your site! There are also 3 sites dedicated to those without vehicles (bicyclists/hikers) and those are only $5/night. This is right on the edge of Lake McDonald which is a nice cool temperature, and there are dedicated bathrooms and portable water pumps. Furthermore since there are no electricity hookups and no areas for RVs, then it's also nice and quiet!
The Sprague Creek campsite where we stayed gave us privacy and great views of Lake McDonald. It’s just a short drive north of the visitor center and is unique in that it does not offer RV access which provides more peace and quiet. If you plan on staying there during the summer months you need to arrive early to ensure you find a spot. On the campground website they will list when the campgrounds fill each day which is helpful. This site along with others is based on a first come first served basis only so be sure to plan ahead and arrive early to get a good campsite. This location also offers a nice private beach behind the campsites which is a great spot to look at the sunset across Lake McDonald. Since it still sits on the lake it also makes it convenient to get around since it is close to several attractions! - @wanderingwithustwo
