For Montanans and visitors alike, getting back to nature isn't just a hobby; it’s a way of life. If you're looking for a genuine Montana camping experience that trades the hustle and bustle for peace and the sounds of a flowing stream, Spring Creek Campground is a destination you absolutely must consider. Tucked away in the scenic **Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest**, this small but mighty campground offers a wonderful retreat that truly embodies the spirit of the Big Sky Country.
This spot is the ideal choice for those who appreciate simplicity and the raw beauty of God's creation at its best, as one past visitor fondly noted. It's a secluded gem, a little sanctuary away from the crowds that often gather closer to larger cities.
The campground itself sits at an elevation of approximately 5,300 feet, nestled in a lush riparian zone along the banks of the namesake **Spring Creek**. ## 🗺️ Location and Accessibility
Spring Creek Campground is located in the southeastern part of the **Little Belt Mountains**, offering a gateway to rugged wilderness and countless outdoor adventures. While it feels wonderfully remote, its location still provides relatively straightforward access for a national forest campground.
The physical address you'll use for planning is **Martinsdale, MT 59053, USA**. More specifically, the site is managed under the **White Sulphur Springs Ranger District** of the Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest.
To reach this scenic retreat, you'll travel approximately 26 miles east from White Sulphur Springs on US Highway 12. From there, you turn north onto Spring Creek Road and continue for about four miles until you reach the campground. It’s a short, scenic drive off the main highway, ensuring you are quickly immersed in the quiet of the forest.
The campground is small, featuring only **10 individual campsites**, and operates on a strict **first-come, first-served** basis. Reservations are not available, which contributes to the remote, less-crowded atmosphere many local users love. Due to the site's design, the maximum trailer length that can be accommodated is generally 30 to 35 feet, making it best suited for tents, truck campers, or smaller RVs. Larger rigs are not recommended.
