Join us as we explore what makes Spring River Oak Campground a top choice for your next outdoor adventure in the Natural State.
Spring River Oak Campground is renowned for its prime location right on the Spring River, a highly popular fishing destination thanks to its cool, clear, spring-fed waters consistently stocked with Rainbow Trout. This makes it an angler's paradise and a delightful spot for swimming and wading. The campground offers a variety of accommodation options, from traditional tent sites to RV hookups and even cozy cabins, aiming to cater to diverse camping styles and preferences.
While some past visitors have noted challenges, such as muddy tent sites, large rocks, and a desire for warmer water in the bathhouses, many reviews consistently highlight the staff's friendliness and helpfulness, along with the beautiful riverside locations. One review specifically mentioned a "very well maintained campground" with "nice grassy spots right by the river" and a "clean and convenient bathhouse." These mixed sentiments suggest that while there might be areas for improvement, the core appeal of the campground — its location and the opportunities it provides for river enjoyment — remains strong. Management strives to make it a "home away from home" for its guests, emphasizing a family-friendly atmosphere and a variety of activities for all ages.
Spring River Oak Campground is ideally situated at 1868 River Oaks Trail, Mammoth Spring, AR 72554, USA. Its location in Mammoth Spring, a charming town in northern Arkansas, places it directly on the banks of the Spring River, a major draw for outdoor enthusiasts. The campground emphasizes its convenience, being just "a half mile from the beautiful Spring River" (though it also states it's "on the water" for some sites), providing easy access for various water activities.
Accessing the campground is generally straightforward, though specific directions are important. Visitors should "Turn off Highway 63 at the Many Island sign, go 1/4th mile and take River Oaks Trail. We are 2 miles off the highway." It's crucial to "Do not use Needles Eye Trace or Windy Hill Road to access Spring River Oaks. These roads are mostly impassible." This guidance ensures a smoother journey to the campground, especially for those with RVs or trailers. The location allows for a peaceful retreat away from major urban centers, while still being close enough to local shopping and dining experiences in Mammoth Spring itself.
Being strategically placed near Mammoth Spring State Park offers additional opportunities for exploration, with its stunning natural beauty and picturesque falls just a short drive away. This regional accessibility makes Spring River Oak Campground a convenient hub for exploring the wider Ozarks area, catering to both those who wish to relax by the river and those eager to venture out on day trips.

Customer Reviews
Stayed at this campground for 2 nights. We were put in campsite #31. The site itself was in a great location on the water where the kids could get right in and out at. Wasn't in a deep spot either. However the campsite was very very muddy and alot of sharp huge rocks. There wasn't any option to where to position our tents. The very big issue was how far away the bathrooms are. We had to drive every time any of us needed to use bathroom. Also the bathrooms do NOT provide any warm water at all and you are taking a freezing cold shower the whole time. The showers, toilets, and sink are all in the same room with no dry place to put your clean dry clothes and towel or to even get dressed in your dry clothes because the floor is completely soaked from the showers. It was also very expensive for 2 nights of tent camping. I paid $145 for 4 adults .
Nice very well maintained campground!!! Staff was super friendly and helpful. Nice grassy spots right by the river. Bathhouse clean and convenient.
DO YOU LIKE SLEEPING ON A TRAIN TRACK?? THIS IS WHAT IT WAS LIKE! Our entire tent shook. You had to yell at the person next to you as the trains passed. If you are an all night train system flying through your tent, vibrating your teeth, clanking cars and letting out the air brakes, kind of person this place is for you. Otherwise a peaceful sleep is not in the cards! We'll sleep in a wind tunnel before camping here again. Lots 58, 57 and 20. The float was great, bathrooms were cleanish.
Took a last minute trip on Mothers Day weekend to a mostly vacant campground and as many know this doesn’t happen often . Enjoyed River side accommodations and views . We had amazing Northern Lights views from out in the middle of the campground and with no one there the light pollution was low . Took a shuttle up to Dam 3 and floated back to our site , Hot Showers and Bathrooms on site .Caught many trout and fried some up for tacos .. Electric and water hookups .
We come down there once a year before the summer rush. We have a group of disable veterans who float on the spring river with safety boaters. We are charged $7.00 per car and $7.00 per boat! I can understand the per vehicle. But boats????? Is there a way we can lower that price for a non-profit group that services disable veterans. If not, then we will have to look to go somewhere else that will help out our veterans.
