Customer Reviews
Very quiet for an overnight camping trip. My wife and I hiked the Arizona Trail section 43 (out and back) and stayed the night in our tent. Update - 2/20/2025. Still a great spot. Bathrooms always cleaned and stocked. The road coming in off of 89 is a bit rough. We drive a F350 with a truck camper. Once we arrived at the campground, the camper had shifted forward a good 6 inches. It's unavoidable for that not to happen...
Just to start, be aware that mobile data is practically non-existent here, with just a single spot for T-Mobile that I managed to connect to. On a positive note, this place is an absolute gem for stargazing and exploring trails during the day. I'd highly recommend trying out the trail along the wadi near the site, and if the weather allows, even going for a run. However, I'd advise against traveling at night; it's best to simply soak in the breathtaking starlit skies without venturing too far.
A well maintained, free campground... Yes, please! I stayed here and had the whole place to myself. Didn’t expect that, but I was quite ok with it. Definitely was worth the stay. Whether you’re coming from the north or south, the road getting there can be rough at times, but as long as it’s dry just about any vehicle can make it. Just take your time and pay attention to the road and your surroundings. Cell reception (if you need it) can be spotty along the road and at the campground. However, there is a decent/strong signal that can be found. Also, just as a tip, always go prepared with enough supplies (food/water/clothing) for you and your passengers, and always let someone know where you are going and when you will return.
Stateline is the northern entrance to the famous Arizona Trail. Wonderful spot to camp and/or have a picnic. Lots to see and do if you like to hike, bike and photograph natural wonders. The people that take care of Stateline do such a good job. I hope anyone who uses it, uses it well and keeps it nice. Here's to a great hike! Cheers.
The camp ground is really nice. Was surprised that every site had a shade and firepit. Need more spaces. I was there to pick up 2 of my sons who had just hiked the AZT. The other camper were nice too.. I do believe you need the label the entrances to the campground at the main road better. Hard to find.
