Customer Reviews
We stayed in the "west" building, the room was dated but clean and comfortable, fully stocked with a kitchen supplying all the basic needs. It was a short walk to the restaurant which was great, both breakfast and dinner was perfect. The downstairs pool was nice, especially being 9 feet deep so kids can safely jump. The main building was modern, the 2 water slides were age appropriate. The area did reach capacity quickly so calling ahead and getting on a wait list is encouraged. There is an adult bar which is always good if that's your kinda thing.
Hate to leave a negative review but feel like it's worth flagging for other families that this 'resort' is really poor value, at least during the winter. The other reviews are accurate re: overall amenities and age but most telling to me is that at the height of school vacation week they don't have any restaurants/bars open onsite and the pool doesn't open until 9 (even though there aren't any lifeguards so it's not a staffing issue). I'd expect this experience to be more like $100/night v the $400 they were charging. Your money is better spent either paying $100 for the same experience elsewhere or spending the greater amount to go to a true resort with amenities.
Stairs for days…. I was recently there on there pathway vacation promotion ( you get a discounted rate for a short stay if you agree to listen to a “1 hour” sales pitch/tour on there program) check in was 4 in the evening on a Sunday and check out by 10 on Tuesday. Our meetings took about 2 hours and you had to stay for all of it even after the sales agent completed his pitch and we said no we still had to sit for the manager to come over and run the numbers and try again to get us to agree. Now I’m not really upset to much by that they are doing there jobs and we did get our stay for a steel. As on Sunday check in was late and we were tiered we decided to try the hilltop restaurant it was over priced and not worth it( I had the half roast chicken it was not a half it was a leg and some weird nubby thing the parties and vegetables had no flavor, my wife had the pork chop that did have flavor but was not cooked all the way and her potatoes and veg also had no flavor. We did the app sampler and it was very small and again no flavor), on our last night we did stop by the bar( tavern) for a drink and I did have a grilled cheese and tomato soup that was not half bad ( on a plus note our bartender was amazing and she almost made up for the tasteless food). The servers were great. I did try both pool areas they were pretty good. The room spacious however there were stains on the bed sprees, black scuff marks on the wall, the toilet did not want to flush and it looks like the had a bad floor board in the bathroom and instead of replacing it they cut out the bad part and put a new piece in the problem with that is it was put in the wrong way and did not meet the edges of the original board. The view from the room was amazing. Overall the stay was mediocre. As they were trying to sell us on buying into a vacation membership you would think they would have use stay in a member room ( which during the tour we did get to see and they were very well maintained and a significant upgrade from our accommodations).
We stayed for my birthday it was nice staff was great and pool was nice as well the views were great. I would have given 4 stars but some things need improvement. The breakfast in my opinion was a little cold we got there first thing. The jacuzzi in my room weren’t that clean so didn’t use it, but that didn’t bother me as much cause hot tub by pool was good. The deck at pool though look nice was a little rough on feet remember to pack water shoes next time. Inside pool was smooth no issues. No elevators so we had first floor handicap room in south building booked 6 months in advance
We have been coming to steele Hill for my entire life. It is a yearly tradition in summer and winter. This was my first year bringing a small baby and it went perfect. There's so many activities for kids and families. There are so many amenities and things to do for parents and adults. The pools are amazing. You do not have to leave the resort. When you do, the lakes region has a bunch to do. 11 out of 10 recommended. Our favorite place to go.
