Beautiful place, had lots of fun. Stayed at campsite 4 i believe, only down side is carrying your supplies down the hill luckly you get ride of some weight for the climb back up. Prepare to get a work out in!!
Beautiful spot, great 4x4, hiking and stars. Don't trash the wilderness. Please take your trash with you.
This is a really pretty small alpine lake. There are 5 or 6 Campsites are distributed along the south edge of the lake. You have to carry your gear down a steep hill about 100 yards to the closest campsites as the road is blocked. The road is decent and most cars should be able to get in, but it is a rock dirt road that requires some clearance.
We didn't stay at Sterling Lake Campground, but we plan to next time! We stayed at Cisco Grove Campground which I HIGHLY recommend! One of my favorite places thus far. We just recently bought a travel trailer and we stayed in section I with hookups, but it didn't feel like an RV park at all. Best spot we camped to date. We drove down to Sterling Lake which was only about 6 miles, but took 40 minutes to get to because the road is pretty rough. It wasn't bad at all, but you just can't go too fast. Sterling Lake is one of my favorite lakes I have discovered through our camping journeys. It is more remote, but not too hard to get to and it has a little more beach than some of the other surrounding lakes. LOVE!
Cold and wintery. Better time in summer.
