Beautiful campground with nearby lakes& mountains, also a lot of hiking opportunities. Highly recommend
Awesome campground, just make sure you make an online reservation beforehand if it's during season! It was amazing getting to experience snow in July, and Medicine Bow is one of a kind. 10/10 will stay here again in the future.
Beautiful location and the camp host was one of the nicest people I've met on a trip. The bathrooms are just vault toilets, so pack & prepare accordingly. Also keep weather in mind, as nighttime temps can drop significantly at this altitude. The campground is a short walk from the lakes and several trailheads, and the views are incredible.
Camped here the 23rd of September, Brrrr!! At nearly 11,000 feet it gets COLD at night. Also, VERY windy, I was afraid my cheap little tent might break or shred. Thankfully it held together. Near as we could figure it was about 10 degrees the night we were there! However, well worth it, especially if you are prepared. The scenery is SPECTACULAR!! Great short hikes right out of the campground, with an abundance of alpine lakes. There are not very many campsites, but they are well laid out. Flat parking, table, fire ring, and tent pad. Toilets are vault, but clean and essentially odor free. The dirt road in from the Hwy is in relatively good condition, just a few potholes.
Beautiful place. Many lakes, where people fish (fish stocked via helicopter), hiking paths very close to campground. No need to drive. Moderate hiking difficulty. Super stunning. In august, there were so many flowers, yellow and purple. There were patches of snow aming mountains. Lots of streams for my dog to drink from. Note : elevation is 11000 ft. If you're not used to it, stay at 5000 or 6000 for a couple days before hoping higher. The isn't as much oxygen at higher elevations, which may cause headaches and dizziness. Also note, if you're drinking, you may get drunk faster. Also, put your food away and be aware. The are bears
