Customer Reviews
I’m not one to leave reviews but felt it was necessary for this place. It was our first time visiting the area and were trying to decide if we would be camping another night. We pulled into this place to check it out (because basically every other campground we’ve ever been to has let us drive through it before paying for a spot) and the lady working the office was extremely rude, dismissive and seemingly not interested in our business. The place has campers everywhere that look like they’ve been there for years and the vibe was off from the get go. There is a campground north of this place that was way cleaner, way friendlier all around and extremely welcoming from the start. We’ll be staying there next time we are in the area.
A cat attacked my friends dog while we where on a walk. Not sure if it belongs to someone or if it's a stray or what. The water was nice and clean. Definitely recommend for a summer trip. The bathroom had a spider and a wasp in it though.
Prior to this past weekend I'd not been down here since the '80s, and my memories did NOT do this place justice. We rough camped, and the site was beautiful, and comfortable even with temperatures dipping into the 30s at night. The kids loved it, and honestly not having any cell signal was awesome. We'll definitely be back.
Great spot if you want a quiet place to get away from the big city or if you want to visit Colorado Bend State Park located a few minutes down the road. The area is pet friendly, but the owners have a few cats that roam the area, so keep that in mind if walking off leash.
Having to do a review again because it was flagged the first time when I told the truth about the reservation clerk overcharging us and her having done this to multiple friend groups as well. I really do like the website which brought us here but when we got here it was really not well kept up. The only thing good was primitive camping and the fishing was peaceful, but it really depends on the season. The state park is down the road which is more well kept has more scenery, but this camp site has so much potential. Too many outdated facilities and RVs. The restrooms were terrible. I do want to make note that the ONLY BAD EXPERIENCE is dealing with the lady/clerk that handles the reservations and charges, everything else was peaceful and I actually enjoyed having no cell phone service out there - but unfortunately the company needs some upgrading.
Stayed four nights camping down next to the river. The place is quiet and friendly with beautiful views. The price per night was very reasonable and the staff were wonderful.
