As a younger person in my twenties, I attended several themed camps here. I loved the rooms with the bunk beds. The rooms were very clean along with the restrooms and showers. The food was excellent. The best part was the area where Camp Sumatanga is located. You can feel the very presence of God there. It's so peaceful and if you go to the chapel overlooking the camp you will be blessed!

Always loved this camp! Great, well-rounded church camp. They are laid back but passionate. There is a wonderful hike that can be taken to a chapel on the mountain. It is amazing! Not far from Centre and Gadsden, AL at all!

Spent many summers as a youth at camp Sumatanga. Loved fellowship with other Christian youth, some of the happiest times of my youth include time as both a camper, and a councilor.

Wonderful camp that has been there since the 1950s. Some buildings need to be updated. Amazing atmosphere all around this place. Staff are amazing and so nice. Wish I had known about this place when I was young so I could have came so much sooner. Definitely a must for your kids in the summer time. Different ages go at different times so no worry of older kids being with much younger kids or anything. Very controlled in that regard. Chapel nearby (see my pics) was such a spiritual place and worth the hike. Steel Cross at the top of the mountain is so amazing and has an inspiring back story as to why it's lights are never turned off at night. Director all the way down to summer staff are energetic and excited to be there! Everyone is nice!
