Summerville Lakes is a wonderful place to stay. The lake is clean. It's a quiet peaceful slice of paradise. All the lots are on the water. Currently you must be a self contained unit as there is no bathroom or shower house to use. There is a Laundromat a few miles down the road. The park managers are phenomenal. Shopping and local attractions are close by. I love staying here.
I recently stayed at Lakes of Summerville RV Park & Campground, and I have to say it was quite underwhelming. Unfortunately, there were several aspects of the experience that left me disappointed. To start, the sites here are all sand, which made it difficult to level our RV properly. Plus, with no grass or gravel, the sand quickly became a mess. There are no amenities at all—no picnic tables, no fire pits, nothing that would encourage you to spend time outdoors, which is usually a big part of the camping experience. It also appears that the majority of campers here are long-term residents, which gave the park more of a residential feel than a recreational one. While that’s not necessarily a negative, it’s worth noting if you’re looking for a more vacation-friendly atmosphere. The price here is surprisingly high considering what you get—or don’t get. For the cost, I would have expected at least a few basic amenities. To add to the frustration, the campground changed our reserved site on the day of our arrival. It didn’t make for a great start. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend Lakes of Summerville RV Park & Campground. For the price, you can find much better options that offer more in terms of comfort, amenities, and overall experience.
Pros: thr owners were very responsive and nice. Our spot was pretty and mostly quiet. Cons: as soon as you pull in you are greated with a very trashy ghetto campsite that people live in. When walking around it is quite obvious they do not enforce upkeep on the long term residence as 90% of them look very rundown and trashy. I was camp host myself and would never in a million years let anyone keep their sites the way these guests do. It is WAY over priced for what you get! Our lot had nothing but the minimal hookups. NO picnic table, NO fire pit, nothing. The people next to us had broken beer bottles by their fire pit, very trashy and run down. For $75 a night you should at least have a fire pit. They don't give you a single luxury or even upkeep the property, so what are they doing with all the money?? We tried taking our kids on a walk and there is a huge debris/burn pile in the middle of the park that is not only an ugly eye sore but unsafe. All in all, I would not recommend or stay here again.
If you have a big heavy diesel class A, choose a different campground. Heavy vehicles will push the levelers in the soft sand and gravel. We even put leveling boards under them to try to prevent it from sinking in. That made it easier, but it still buried the bottom board. Also, if your rig will shut off the power if it is unstable or low voltage you will have issues with the power there. Smaller campers that weigh less will be ok.
Great spot for our Father's Day weekend. Easy access to Charleston, Summerville, Mt Pleasant, etc. Beautiful water views seemingly everywhere. Campground host was helpful and accommodating showing us our site location. Strong cell service allowed us to stream evening movie too. Highly recommend.
