We stayed in a 30amp pull thru site for 2 nights. Marci checked us in and was helpful with all questions. Park is nicely maintained and quiet. We had no issues during our stay. We have a 39ft travel trailer and were able to maneuver without difficulty in and out. Bonus points that another camper told us they have an air compressor on site when we had a low tire!
Very nice, very simple park. Quiet. Friendly community with some activities. Inexpensive laundry but many machines were out of order. Showers and bathrooms are dated, but there's plenty of warm water. Sites are Level and roads are smooth.
We stayed overnight & left by noon next day. We utilized one of their pull throughs which was incredibly spacious, level, & maintained. Marcy handled our check-in process & payment and she was an absolute sweetheart (I saw the negative comments about her, she was nothing but nice to us). She had already started on our booking after not having service while trying to speak/book over the phone. When we arrived, she already had our spot & packet ready. I thought she made the whole process less stressful & had no issues whatsoever. I did utilize the bathhouse and while outdated with some staining, they were generally clean with blazing hot water. See attached picture. The entire park shares 1 bathhouse and if I remember correctly, they had 3-4 showers in the women's. The pathway to the bathhouse (along the back side against the tree line), is not lit at all & it was really dark walking back to my campsite. To be fair, I don't have the best vision & it was about 9:30pm. But I did have to ask for help from another camper as I did get turned around in the dark. This won't factor into my rating as I should've paid better attention, but you might want to take a flashlight if you plan to shower after dark. Overall, we had a great experience and would recommend Sumter Oaks!
Sumter Oaks is a relaxing escape, surrounded by beautiful live Oaks and fan palms. The organic landscaping is a refreshing change from your typically landscaped place. There is a small office where you check in, and a large recreation room where activities are held. There is no pool or sauna or hot tub... It is not a resort, it is an RV park. While it seems to be in the middle of nowhere, there is a good amount of shopping available within a few miles. There are a few attractions in the area such as the date battlefield historic State Park and Florida national cemetery, and we just learned there is a teaching zoo 15 minutes away, but call first they have weird hours. But this is really the kind of place to kick back and relax and get away from it all...
Sumter Oaks is the best campground I have used ever. I have been here for 6 months, and I hate to leave. The manager, Marci, is sweet and beautiful. It’s a lovely setting with humongous trees and sorcerer who stands watch. They stay very full with a lot of annual clientele, so book early. It is NOT on I-75 so it is very quiet compared to nearby Breezy Oaks where you might as well be in the median. I will be back in 3 months. I love Sumter Oaks
