Sun Retreats Ocala Orange Lake

Sun Retreats on Orange Lake is a very nice resort style campground. It is a fairly large campground, but it is not too big. It does not have that corporate feel a lot of large campgrounds seem to have these days. The majority of the campers are full time or seasonal (snow bird) residents. But they do have transient spots available. For a park with so many long term guests, there really is a very good mix of campers and park models. Most of the park models are near the front of the campground, or right up against the golf course. I am not a fan of big seasonal campgrounds that have mostly park models. And this one does not feel like mobile home park or anything like that. The grounds are well manicured, and the bath houses and club houses are clean and well maintained. It has a very nice 9 hole golf course with a small pro shop, shuffleboard, pickleball courts, a pool, Fishing dock, and lots of other recreations activities. The Eagles Nest restaurant on the property has great food, and patio seating overlooking the beautiful lake. Part of the patio is covered and screened in to get away from any pesky mosquitos or whatever. Gigi and Fran are amazing to work with, and make your stay wonderful.

Nice location, plenty of activities for all ages. They have RV sites, and l Mobile homes some for sale or you may be able to rent. The Staff and Management are extremely friendly and helpful. Gigi, Fran, & Toby have helped my wife and I find a wonderful site for our trailer. Also very professional and friendly answering questions. We look forward to staying @ Sun Retreat Ocala Lake. Gun shots! Stayed for one night on our way to Naples. Very difficult to navigate to site (tight space and turns). Electric did not work. Got the 15amp to work but 30 and 50 had neutral wire issue. The worst part though was being woken up at 6am (was still dark out) to gunshots!! Went on for two hours. Hundreds of gunshots. Right outside the park and very loud. Absolutely insane. There is a lot of riff raff around this park and it appears they do target practice on the land. Would avoid especially id you have kids (unless you want them coming into your room at 6am asking why there are so many fireworks).

The staff is amazing, especially Fran and Gigi. There is a restaurant on site, and the shrimp basket was very good. There is also a 9 hole golf course and a driving range.

Visited relatives. Enjoyed golfing and ate at local bar. Great staff, food and service
