When I first arrived at the location, I was greeted by a very angry Karen. After showing me to my room (my senior grandfather is not capable of simple actions), we thanked her, but all she did was grow a large demon tail and began to thrash my grandfather with it. After asking about amenities such as pool, recycling, etc. She simply sprouted large red wings and as the sky went dark, was transported to a weird middle place between here and The Darklands. My grandfather complained constantly about the state of his bed, and when we went to visit Karen at the office a few weeks later, she was nowhere to be found! Instead in her wake, there was variously sized ants who were all talking about serving their queen, carrying objects. They would not listen to us and were very rude. Nice dog park, my grandpa loved running around the fields.
Woodland Lake is a beautiful, clean campground. The staff were friendly and the seasonal guests who stay there were very welcoming and kind. They offer a lot of great amenities for children right on the campground including a heated pool, beach, splash pad and playgrounds. And for dog owners, the off leash area is fantastic. The only negatives were that the water is slimy on the bottom and a lot of the hiking or biking trails were not maintained or closed. Overall though it is a wonderful campground and we had a positive stay for sure!
I wasn't impressed that we booked a site that was available but were told that we have to give an additional $30 to gaurentee we get that site. We camp roughly a dozen times a year and that was a first for me. Well we didn't do that because we thought it sounds silly to book a specific campsite and for the campground to actually not give you that site but lone behold, we were moved. We were moved to another area completely that had no trees on a really hot weekend and also next to what I believe is the vent for the septic?... which of course had moments of ripe smells. The campground is well maintained and full of friendly people. The lake was nice enough and the beach was a decent size. It is well set-up for permanent campers, unfortunately due to what I see as greediness (but maybe just my cheapness) has tarnished our want to visit for a weekend again.
great place to creat memories for myself and my grandkids. Karen was friendly, but kept the friendship professional. The campers were quick to lend a helping hand and I loved the safe fun community atmosphere that was created for the kids. The gossip that comes with this type of atmosphere is not my cup of tea. I would highly recommend this Retreat. thanks for the fun and memories.
Updated review: this place has really changed in the last few years. It seems like the new management has been threatening users with being kicked out if they bring up concerns and they have created a lot of really arbitrary and unessecary problems for users. The lake is no longer as nice as it once was because it hasn't been dredged and the water is really low, they've imposed a weird curfew for golf carts, and they put up shrubbery in front of my family's site so that there is not even room for them to park their vehicle or pull their trailer out safely. I'm really disappointed in the way things have changed here. I've recently moved back to Ontario and my partner and I were considering a site here, but not anymore. . .. (review from 2018:) My Aunt and Uncle have a seasonal spot at this resort and I came to stay for a bit while visiting from Calgary. The weather was fantastic and the park is full of friendly people who really treat the place as a welcoming community. The beach was the best place to watch all of my nieces and nefews play and learn, and there was copious amounts of parks so no one could get bored! There is also a pool and a splash pad for anyone who has children. Great place to spend a week or even just an afternoon.
