Sun Retreats Wild Acres Introduce
Sun Retreats Wild Acres is a well-known RV park and campground nestled in the charming town of Old Orchard Beach, Maine. This family-friendly facility provides a perfect blend of nature and convenience, making it an ideal destination for outdoor enthusiasts and families alike.
Located at 179 Saco Ave, Old Orchard Beach, ME 04064, Sun Retreats Wild Acres is easily accessible and offers a variety of services including RV sites, tent camping, and cabin rentals. The park features modern amenities such as restrooms with showers, laundry facilities, and a convenience store, ensuring all your needs are met during your stay.
The campground's prime location places it just minutes away from the Atlantic Ocean, offering easy access to beaches, hiking trails, and other outdoor activities. However, visitors should note that some sites are close to train tracks, which may cause noise disturbances, as mentioned by previous guests.
While Sun Retreats Wild Acres boasts a convenient location and essential amenities, it has faced criticism for its inflexible reservation policies and the appearance of permanent sites, which some describe as resembling a flea market. Potential guests should consider these factors when planning their visit.

Customer Reviews
Our plans had changed on our trip to New England from down south. I Called Wild acres to inquire about arriving 2 days early and leaving 2 days early. The amount of time would remain the same. They refused stating no reservations could be changed within 14 days. There was absolutely no leeway, the reservation would need to be cancelled, forfeit the deposit and entire reservation rebooked. The customer service was rude and inflexible. We get to the RV park and there are many open available sites. Also, no warning that a train track is 50 feet from the RV park and the train goes by 3 times during the night, so close it rattles our 36 ft RV. Nothing peaceful about our stay. There are many other available campgrounds in Old Orchard. The worst experience in our travels in 3 years.
The campground is misrepresented as to location. The campground is bordered by train tracks within 50-75 feet of sites, that an amtrak train at high speeds goes by many times day and night. On resort map there is no indication that there are train tracks. Only the Atlantic ocean, which is about a 5- 10 minute walk away. The other disappointment is the amount of permenant sites that make it look like a giant flea market with the amount of personalization each site does. If you are looking for a campground that is relaxing, keep on looking.
We just spent a wonderful week at Wild Acres. The service was wonderful from check in to the store and beyond. We were having trouble with our camper and a member of maintenance helped us out as well as checked in on us later. The resort is very clean overall, the trolley service is super convenient and the activities are great. The only disappointment (and it was concerning enough to put it in a review) was the speed at which some golf carts and many bikes traveled through the campground. I was nearly hit twice by children not paying attention and simply going too fast. Please get the kids and adults too to slow down whether it is a golf cart, e bike or regular bicycle!
This review is for the Adventure Course (we didn’t stay here). The course is fantastic, with a great variety of fun challenges. Safety is paramount. Staff is very helpful and ready to jump in if someone is stuck. There are awesome zip lines! We have been here twice now and both times were a blast. I would give 2-3 hours for the whole place. Price was reasonable, and we will be back!
We really enjoyed our stay at Sun retreats! We will definitely be a returning customer. The staff were friendly and helpful. They even drive you to your camping spot which is super helpful in such a large campground with a 30 ft camper. Even the other campers were respectful. I was not woken up one time by other loud campers. There’s so much to do in the campground. My favorite part was the climbing/zip line course. The beach access is about a 7 minute walk to the beach which was nice. Golf cart rentals are a little on the expensive side, but it’s worth it for such a large campground. There’s like 3 different pools to choose from. We didn’t get the chance bc there were a lot of people in the pools while we were there, but the ocean is so close we went there instead. It was my first time zip lining or doing the climbing course. Staff gave everyone a ton of info and were really helpful the whole way. There were only 2 things that could make the stay better. The first is the bathroom/ shower areas could def use an upgrade, and our spot was so close to the dumpsters by Saturday evening they were full and stinky which wasn’t fun while making s’mores, but it happens. Overall we loved the campground. It’s beautiful and has that woodsy campy feel surrounded by the pine trees.
