Used to Camp here many years ago for Summer Vacations. It Was great place for Families, Unheated Pool, mini golf, Lawn area for play, Playground etc, Laundry, Showers, Tents Cabins for Rent, Camper space, Boat Launch & moorage for length of stay. We LOVED it, Camped yr over yr. for 15yrs SADLY, everything looks 'tired' now.. Just popped in while in area to ' check it out' Maybe d/ t off season End of January Mini golf in disrepair. No one avail in shop/ office so no one to discuss anything
We've stayed here lots. It was a special place for a long time, very beautiful location. The old guy and his wife seem like great people. Everything is in disrepair as the owners haven't kept up with maintenance (assuming age and health). And im very surprised to not see more complaints of the backed up sewage that spews all over the campground. I wont touch the soil on any sites with sewage as they are broken and it doesn't go anywhere but on the ground. Id assume this is a huge and expensive project to fix - when it's busy the ground bubbles when people empty the black tanks. Probably tree roots ect. Hope someone restores this place to it's former glory one day. I'd stay with friends on the field to fish but beware of contaminants on ground and general area of sewage sites. Its bad and has been for years. That said, the boat launch is much better than other choices in the area as far as ease of use.
I’ve stayed here a few times over the last 3 years when I could not find a spot at one of the surrounding campgrounds. It has flush toilets but no hand soap, 1$ showers but it’s a strange configuration (men’s room was a small area about 2 meters long and 2 feet wide with 2 showers and a small bench separating them) They have a mini golf course and pool neither of which are in proper operation. The pool area is being used as storage. There is also a children’s play ground and a large dock neither of which have been maintained in decades. Fire pits and benches are just as old. The owners were always quite nice to me however it seems the reviews are quite mixed. Even with prices, Some charged almost 20$ more per night than I for the same service. I get the feeling they just want to retire but don’t have the money to fix up the place enough to sell. There is definitely a few homeless people living here at a discounted rate. Which is a nice thing to do and they (homeless people) are very friendly and have even helped me out in a pinch. Definitely harmless and the loudest thing in the area is the road. Hopefully someday this place turns around and doesn’t turn into some private property. The owners should just give up or buckle down and do something.
Never stay here. There is no soap or toilet papers available in the bathroom. Showers are broken and don’t work. Extremely dirty. The campsite is located right next to a very busy road, so going to be hearing a lot of traffic all night.
I cannot recommend that campsite at all. We arrived on August 15, 2023, at 7 pm. The initial impression wasn't great, so we went to the office. The owner, an older Polish man, completed the check-in and payment. It was quite expensive compared to other campgrounds we've stayed at on Vancouver Island. He charged us $47.50, and showers were an additional cost. He directed us to a spot for our Truckcamper. After about 5 minutes, we decided not to stay that night due to the loud street noise and the unappealing campground. We asked if it was possible to receive a refund, or at least a partial one. The owner was uncooperative and became unfriendly. He eventually told us "good luck" finding another campsite. We left and, after a 15-minute drive, arrived at the potholes campground. We paid $25 for a peaceful and relaxing night at a beautiful site.
