The good: nice area with great views provided you are on the shore facing the lake and the campground was relatively quiet. The not so good: Not enough bathrooms as in only 1 and campers with sewage hookups are pushed to use their camper bathroom only. No internet and no cell service, we were not in the direct campground but in the overflow that appears to have been a parking lot at one time. Check in: the person that checked us in wrote my CC number down on a piece of paper to be processed later and I was less than happy with this breach of security. Overall: Nice area to visit but unless you are really into "Rustic and Basic camping" skip this place.

We rented the RV setup on the site permanently where the old trailer used to be; we it was damaged over the winter. We showed up tonight to find this brand new cabin they finished today! CA4 Bill’s Place cabin is a studio cabin with a bathroom inside, brand new mini fridge with a small freezer, 2 burner stove, coffee pot, pots/pans, dishes, nice bed,, couch, and table with 2 chairs. The deck is really nice/good sized, and there is a fire ring and picnic table as well as parking spot out front. The campground is situated right on the beach, our cabin is in the second row on the opposite end of the campground than the other cabins right against a wooded area.

My wife and I stayed on a tent site mid-Sept. that was right on the beach with a full view of Lake Superior from our tent. The selling point of this place is the beach and glorious views of the lake. Beach is mostly rocks, good for agate hunting and Yooperlite hunting (we found both!). The bath house was pretty dirty and unkept, signs inside the bathrooms (only 1 for guys, 1 for girls) intend to enlist the help of the campground to keep the bathrooms clean, including mopping up any wet floor. The showers and countertops/sink were very dirty as well. There's no internet or cell service here, but we welcomed the opportunity to unplug and disconnect from those things to reconnect with the physical world around us. This is a good place for that. Our site was not perfectly level, so choosing a flat surface on site 4 was difficult, though this was not a major deal for us as our tent on the 2nd night kept us completely dry during a thundershower. There was a large picnic table and a campfire pit at every site. Most every pit we saw had a grate to swivel over the pit for easy cooking. Checking in was not official at all. We had no instructions to stop at the office. The host explained she had to WRITE DOWN our card number to process it at the office. I was very uncomfortable with that from a financial security point of view. Their check-in process needs to be updated and modernized, as with just a copied CC# in today's information age is very dangerous. We also experienced an additional night's charge on our account after leaving our tent site in good condition and are seeking to find out why.

Love the view, but I had no water so we use there's but the lady it front yelled as us tell us not to use it because it's for the ice. The only thing that was nice to me was the animals. The bathrooms are so gross I rather go outside then the toilets. If you want to stay here DONT! go somewhere else.

We loved our four night stay at Sunset Bay. We stayed in our RV at site #13. Cheryl, the camp host, was helpful and was seen regularly. This is camping in nature, it's not paved, there aren't concrete pads, there aren't fancy bathhouses. If you want to glamp, and if you are unable to be "unplugged", this is not the place for you. If you want to enjoy nature with the benefit of electricity (not at the tent sites) and water, a beautiful view, and peace and quiet, then this is your place. All sites had a nice firepit and picnic table. RV sites had electricity and water, tent sites had access to water spigots throughout the tent sites. I was able to text at times and make phone calls (Verizon), and had internet in the late evening and early morning. We didn't use the bathrooms (there were two of them) because we were in our RV. We felt very safe and the grounds were very clean and well kept. We can't wait to return.
