We camped here and it was really nice. Right next to the campground is a formal garden that is absolutely amazing. I was there outside of peak season and it was still so beautiful. There are lots of beautiful trails Oceanside and a cool ocean observation building. The campground was shaded and slots had privacy. The bathrooms are at the center of each loop, were clean and have free showers. Each site has a picnic table and a fire pit.
Partly our own fault for camping in January, I guess, but the under-powered space heaters in the yurts do NOT do the job. My wife and I froze all night and left early. We know not all yurts are this way. We stayed at Harris Beach several years ago and recall the yurt being toasty warm. This one dribbled heat and kept shutting off long before the yurt achieved any semblance of warmth. Sunset Beach itself is amazing as is the staff that works the campground. No shade on them. Three stars is all about freezing our tucases off due to inadequate equipment. I asked another person staying in another yurt how their heater worked, thinking maybe we just got a lemon, but no; theirs was just as anemic as ours.
Beautiful. Great place to stay out of the harder ocean wind, yet still enjoy the ocean views and waves.
Beautiful little park. A bit out of the way but hey, that's the point. Nice beach for sunsets. Great trails to Shore Acres and beyond. Family friendly. Camping spots are fairly tight but there are some with more room than others. Nice park hosts. Stayed here 3 times over the past 3 years. It's a fave of ours now.
I had a great time staying at Sunset Bay State Park ❤️ it's beautiful even when the sun isn't out. Our RV site was the best one in the park. But there are a lot of good sites. Shore Acres is a must! The Park Rangers were friendly. I hope to go back someday.
