This was our fourth visit to Sunset and in all our visits we stay at The Landing. In my opinion it the best cabin to load and unload, has a nice roomy lawn and great place to sit around the fire and watch the sunset. There isn't a T.V. which is fine with us, but it does have great internet service so we were able to watch T.V. on my laptop if we wanted without any buffering. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the things you need to make any meal you would like to cook. Just bring your own food and spices of course. The nice thing about The Landing is there is a little deck off the living room. We have two dogs and they like to spend their time out on the deck just looking around at everything. Speaking of the living room there is a huge picture window and a great view of Sequim Bay and the mountains beyond. On clear evenings the moon glimmering off the bay is beautiful and the stars look like you could reach out and grab one. This is not a place to go to be pampered and entertained. This is a place to go to be quiet, enjoy the views, walk around in nature, look at the birds, put the world behind you. I do however find the Sea Lions on the raft that you can see from the window entertaining or the Eagles that glide across the water. The Landing has 2 bedrooms and 3 beds. So if you are like Goldilocks you can find a bed that is just right for you. I like the bedroom that has the window that looks out over the water, it is a great view to wake up to. The place is rustic, we like rustic, the place is clean, we like clean, the place is quiet and scenic and we like all those things too. And if we wanted more excitement in our night 7 Cedars Casino is right down the road, but we found The Cabin and the area around excitement enough. I hope our future holds many more visits to Sunset Marine Resort...
we loved it here! we stayed in skippers quarters and it was a great cabin with amazing views and very friendly staff. everything was clean and prepped very well. it is about a 40 minute drive to the olympic visitors center. only thing to note is the drive up and down to and from the cabin can be a bit rocky/tough, so make sure you take it slow and easy! other than that everything was great!
We have stayed here four times in four different cottages in the last five years. Every time has been peaceful and relaxing with fabulous views and comfortable accommodations. This last time we stayed at the large and beautiful Eagle's Nest. We only used one of the three bedrooms and found it to be quiet and very comfortable. I had forgotten my pillow at home and was pleasantly surprised with the fine quality of those provided. This unit has a very large living area with a nice wood stove and incredible bay views. We were glad it was late in the season as the weather was comfortable. Being that none of the windows open in the living area and that the shades don't fully block the sun coming in during the afternoon, we thought it likely gets very warm during the summer. While we were happy to have a small yaed area for our dog, it was so saturated with urine our pup was really having a hard time finding a suitable spot. We ended up using the fire pit area across the road instead. The kitchen is really big with a full range and oven, a dishwasher, and plenty of counter space. Tons of dishes, glasses, and cups. Nicely appointed spice cabinet, too. We advise checking to make sure there are enough utensils for your group as soon as you check in, and that any dishes or cookware you might need is available. We were surprised to find only three spoons (worked for us) and could have used a baking sheet; but it was the end of peak season, and the housekeeping staff was very responsive when contacted. The bathroom has great water pressure with a full tub and shower. Shampoo and bar soap are provided with plenty of extra towels in the hall closet, too. Outdoors is a very large deck well appointed with dinner table and chairs with a shade umbrella, as well as a second seating area with chairs, a loveseat, and a coffee table. Cushions on everything made for comfy lounging when the sun came out. New on this visit was wifi and a smart Roku TV. Be advised the wifi is slow like molasses even with a strong signal making it difficult to stream or watch anything. We were constantly reconnecting or waiting for the TV to catch up after a frozen screen. Not certain if this was the TV or the WiFi service. Our attemt to cast from our devices was refused and it may be the TV wasnt compatible. If you plan to bring your computer, in addition to the Wifi issues, be aware there are not very many three prong outlets and some of them are hidden. We found one under the counter next to the stove the day we left. Lol. Overall, a really nice space with great staff. While not very responsive to pre-arrival queries, all questions we're answered upon arrival. And when an issue arose later during our six-night stay, the housekkeping staff was incredibly responsive and took care of us immediately. Still one of our favorite places to stay as it is very pet-friendly (we brought our cat, too) and has the best sunsets on the Peninsula. Bring your friends and don't forget your camera!
We had a lovely stay at the Tree House! It was hard to leave the deck but it was worth a trip to town to eat at Salty Girls and enjoy local hikes. These properties have great charm and character but are not high end resort quality. We weren’t looking for that. They are remote, quiet, beautiful spots with epic views! If you want fancy, go to a hotel. For two of us + our pup, it was perfect. Cant wait to go back. Thanks, Tracie and Lavon!
The Eagle’s Nest has spectacular views. That’s it. It is an old musty house with original cabinetry, flooring, and furniture to match. The house cracks and creaks loudly all night providing a melody of loud pops that awake even the most sound sleepers. There is a mildewy smell that permeates the main living area and back of the home like when you visit a 1950s home that has never been aired out. There are large spider webs above the plastic tub/shower enclosure and dust on the cedar planks that make up the house construction. Several window shades are not functioning so you cannot have privacy or block the sun. The original louvered kitchen window over the sink needs repair. There is a secret door in the entry way with do not enter warnings. Turns out anyone can enter your living area without notice or your knowledge from the stairwell that connects a lower unit apartment to the main house. You cannot lock the door. No lighting or reflectors are provided in the parking area to avoid hitting the large tree or the decorative concrete wall that line the parking spots at night. It’s pitch black here once the sun drops below the horizon. There is no fan in the bathroom so enjoy the steamy bathing experience (it is fun chasing bars of soap that skid off the tiny ledges of the plastic tub/shower surround). No screen on the deck door so if you want to try to create a cross breeze to air the place out, you have to choose between your health and the bug kingdom. The living room couch offers no support and the property managers have blocked the bay views with a set of patio chairs. BBQ grate filthy. The location is nowhere near Sequim or any other services. You have to drive 20 minutes to town. You cannot walk on the narrow two lane street in this area - no sidewalks or room to walk. No streetlights.
