I give this 2 stars because yes the camp sites are away from trees so no tics, if you have an RV probably a great spot for camping since they have a playground for kids. If you have a boat as well as a RV probably perfect spot for camping honestly. Though if you're looking for traditional camping with a tent and fire with a spot to fish and swim at your campsite I would say go to another lake because the camping spots are not good for those amenities. There are bushes in the way to get to water and lots of big rocks to walk down, yes that's nature I get it but very inconvenient when trying to fish or swim. The bathrooms are okay but it's only one stall and the womens restroom door doesn't automatically close like the men's so lots of bugs get inside, and some women don't like that aspect... Lol. But beautiful views at sunset for sure. If you want a good fire their fire pits are not that big at all, though it does have a grill on every fire pit, and trees that are around are trimmed. My personal rating out of 10 for this lake is probably 4-5 for lakes I've been to. They also put up reservation tickets for campsites a week in advance for some reason, someone had the campsite we were at reserved for the 6th when we were here on the 1st tried calling the office and regional number and they had no customer service assistance so we just camped at campsite since we were here well in advance of the reservation. So if you're looking for views and a boat I'm lake I'd say this is your place but if you want more tent camping swimming and fishing I'd find another place to go.
It is a great place to camp and enjoy the views and the quiet beauty of the water and the nature
I love elk state park but this campground offers very little privacy, no shading, and sites are close together. The campground is very well maintained!
Beautiful camp sites and great facilities! We'll definitely be returning this summer to enjoy everything they have to offer!!
