Very nice campground. Facilities are old, but maintained clean. There was a racoon party at night nearby site 28. Be careful if you have small dogs or kids. They don't usually attack adults if you approach to them first. Nature such as trees, soil, animals, the sound of wave, and the song of birds in the morning is so great. You can see dolphines from the sunset beach if you are lucky.
Was very clean. Very relaxing and great camping experience! The restrooms have showers just for the camping people that take quarters. Bathrooms were cleaned every day, with no bad smells. Couldn't ask for more from camping grounds! And the beach we'll you can see the pictures yourself. Lots of room on the beach. We stayed Tuesday-Friday check out. Check out is noon. And they will NOT let you check in even a minute before 2 pm. You can buy wood there for $15.00 a bundle. 2 bundles lasted the whole time for us. We made our fire just after the sun went down. Every camp i saw had a picnic table and a pantry to lock up food. Remember, there is wildlife. We had very large raccoons every night but they look very friendly. Just be careful of the holes walking at night. The moles like to dig a lot. Even under your tent with you in it, lol Still a great experience will go again in a heartbeat.
Camped here twice. Picnic tables and storage cabinets are very old and falling apart. Some camp sites don’t even have storage cabinets and are close to each other. At most 2-3 tents (2 person tents) per site would fit, anything larger or bigger, it will be cramped. At least the picnic tables can be moved around to make space if needed. A big plus that it’s near the beach.
Drove a few hours to get here as it had great reviews and beautiful views. I was completely devastated when I saw the site as it was overgrown, poorly taken care of, disgusting bathrooms and had extremely unhelpful/unprofessional check in hosts. I had to leave to find another campsite up the highway. This should be a free campsite if they are going to care so little about it. My first huge disappointment with a CA state park. Go up north for your moneys worth. Also fire the young dark haired guy and gal with the SUV. I waited forever to check in and waited in the lot by the gate. Instead of telling me I could check in they bullshitted around. The girl took a lunch break in the back of her truck and the guy never told me the campsite was ready after asking repeatedly. Then I got to the campsite and it was a complete shitshow of a place.
My husband and I spent 4 nights in the south campgrounds, staying in site #14. We were in our 26' RV so there was plenty of room in the driveway, it was also relatively level. Some site have quite a slope to them and would be really hard to level any kind of RV. The grounds were well kept, and the bathrooms were clean. It was a 1/4 mile walk to the beach, which was not bad at all. The beach was beautiful and was perfect for a long walk to bird watch and just enjoy the ocean waves. There are a couple vista points that you can walk to to watch the sunsets without having to go all the way down to the beach.
