Customer Reviews
The location was perfect! Right off the highway, easy to turn in and get out, although being able to see the one directional signs of the hotel is not clearly visible on the ground. Would I come here again if I needed a budget stay in Crescent City if I had no other options or the financial means… maybe. Would I recommend this place… maybe not. Did it meet our expectations based on the price point we paid, yes.
Got here very early in the morning, had paid for the room since I booked it online. Got here and they only open a little side window like about an inch, talked really low and was hard to understand, besides the fact that not very friendly, and lady took 45mins to check me in. Then proceeded to say that I haven’t paid for the room when I had the receipt. Charged my card twice! And she raised the price as well. The next morning we woke up bright and early to do stuff because we were on a schedule and we asked what time the breakfast started, just so you know is from 7-10 according to signs. We got down there 7:10, door was locked and the guy was barely putting the coffee to be brewed. We asked and he said “is not ready, have to wait” didn’t even let us in to get some cereal or something. Very rude and careless of peoples schedule and time. When we got back (around 8:45-9) we ate cereal just to found out that there was not any milk and he got mad because I was asking for milk, and no coffee, and a very diluted waffle mix, I guess to stretch the use. Very poorly managed, customer service is not existent, for 70 bucks at night is ridiculous. There’s better hotels.
Our original room was moist like a sauna, and upon using the bathroom, we realized the shower was leaking scalding hot water. We had children with us, so we pulled the door closed until we could get them to sleep. I should have called right then but was a little ragged from a super long drive. When I went to use the shower, it was broken, and upon calling, the office got told they could fix it in the morning. I argued that was unacceptable for the price I paid and was offered another room. It was 9 at night, and we had finally gotten the 5 very young children we were traveling with to sleep, and I asked for a discount if we couldn't use the shower. After being told he absolutely could not do a discount and arguing my case for 15 minutes and being laughed at when I said I know he could give a discount, I was offered a 10% discount at checkout with a malicious grin. At this point, we just changed rooms. We had to wake up 5 under 4 year old children just to get showers so we could leave on time in the morning. Pretty crazy the super difficult man that is in charge down there. Also the fan in the bathroom made a screaming sound there was mold on the front door and in bathroom and the floor transition from the room into the bathroom was broken and dangerous
This hotel is everything you need for a roof over your head and a night's sleep. Nothing overly special, but the room was clean and comfortable for my family of 4. It was a good location in regards to traveling the redwoods and getting a bite to eat.
Room was clean, room had everything we needed for one night. We didn't get breakfast so I can't comment on that. I imagine with the climate here it is difficult to keep rust and mold from happening in the bathroom however, I do think with just a little more attention and investment this motel could be a better. The water temp was very difficult to control, went from normal to scalding. Overall, our stay was pleasant, room was clean and it was perfectly fine for one night.
