There were many different trails to explore. All were marked and easily navigated with 3 wild children. Also areas where the kids could play in the creek and climb on boulders and explore. Parking is plentiful even on busy days. The only thing I wish was different was I wanted to really be able to explore the mill ruins but there was a large fence surrounding and you could not really even get close without trespassing. I do understand the reasoning but I wish there were maybe a ranger to patrol and access allowed. Great place for family hikes, picnics and plenty of different length trails all fairly easy to hike. We will be back!
The park was amazing and a sight to see. The trails aren’t too bad as my little (3yrs&5yrs) really enjoyed it and did no complaining, and they walked a good distance. They only accept cash at the both no cash will require you to buy a pass from the visitor center. The ladies in the visitor center are nice and knowledgeable you can view different items and grab a great souvenir. Daily Pass is $5 which is reasonable. We went on a Saturday it wasn’t too busy but it was busy. Overall we enjoyed ourselves and would definitely do it again. The fall time when the leaves start changing would be a nice view to see.
This state park is always clean with ample trash bins throughout the trails. Trails are well marked and give you many options for flat, incline or more strenuous climbs. The creek and ruins are the perfect serene atmosphere close to home. This is one of my favorites.
Absolutely stunning park. You'll get the pretty views from Red Trail. Red Trail gets difficult as it reaches the meeting point with white trail. It can still be done with kids that like to climb just a little slower. Not dangerous at all. If you plan to use white trail I recommend loading All Trails onto your phone. There are a lot of branch offs that are not marked on the park map. As a result at one point I thought I was turning on brown trail but it was just an unmarked maintenance trail. It took me off course from white but once I met up with green trail and opened my All Trails map I got back on track and realized just how many unmarked trails there are! Cell service is poor and it took a while to load, so load it before starting. Still a fun experience as I'm mildly adventurous and this wasn't a dangerous situation. I will for sure be going back again with my family to try other trails. The map says there's a bathroom where red and white meet. Either I didn't see it or it's not there. No other bathrooms on the trails. Not a big deal but there were a lot of people so going off trails would probably make me nervous. The longest trail is 5 miles but take into consideration that 5 miles may take 1-2 hours depending on your speed, ability, and how much you stop to take in the beauty.
This is a great park! Came here with some friends and our dogs. There are tons of walking trails and great areas all along the river to explore. The "ruins" were really cool to look at, along with all of the nature at various lookout points throughout the trails. Definitely give this park a visit.
