Excellent location right on the river Our first RV spot was ok, but the dump area was higher than the RV so it didn't work out well. Fortunately, we were able to switch sites for our second night. The river access is amazing. Come prepared--there's nothing nearby. We hiked down the train tracks until we reached public land which had some trails We enjoyed it We may come back
The guy running the place was very nice. We love how close it is to the river! There aren't a lot of RV spots but they also have cabins and an area for tents. The bathrooms and showers are a little run down and didn't have any hand soap. We would stay here again.
We stayed in our RV. It was a really nice riverside site. Definitely planning on coming back. The gentleman working the office was very friendly. Wi-Fi worked perfectly at our site. The facilities were obviously well used, but clean. We could even see some 4th of July fireworks from our site.
The office is open only from 2 pm to 6 pm. No potable water, you have to either bring your own or ask the front desk which is closed most of the time. Bathroom are clean but toilet paper is shi$$y. The suspension bridge is where you have to cross with all your stuff to get to the tent site. It is quite and right on the river on both sides. We loved it.
What an amazing place to stay! I read some reviews before booking, and I was honestly more concerned about people’s ability to read maps or understanding you are not staying at some resort on the ocean. Understand where you’re going, folks. Don’t be douches because you expect the Riviera Maya. This place is awesome! SRR is an amazing getaway for those seeking adventure and living life off the grid (ish). Not far from rafting; in between Salida and Canon City; trailheads somewhere around. All the stuff for outdoor adventurers. Gavin was an amazing host, always willing to help or just stop and chat. Dude never stops working. We didn’t fish, but I guarantee you that guy can teach you. Have everything you need for your trip. The “store” has a few things, but why would you go camping and need a grocery store … unless YOU didn’t prepare. The ice cream bin is dope, though! Not literal dope, but a solid variety of frozen delicacies. Bathrooms are a little outdated, but I’m not gonna complain about a hot shower, place to brush your teeth and poop (not at the same time). Overall, SRR is a great place to stay. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Oh! I also learned my truck bed tent is hail proof (pea-sized, at least). Folks, make your trip what you want it to be. Don’t expect wilderness to do it for you. I loved SRR and will be going back. Thanks, Gavin, for being a great host.
