Sycamore Landing Introduce

For Missourians looking for the quintessential Ozark float trip experience, Sycamore Landing in Noel stands out as a prime destination. Nestled along the picturesque Elk River, this campground and outfitter offers a vibrant hub for outdoor adventure, particularly for those eager to spend their days floating on the clear waters of one of the state's most beloved rivers. It's a place where memories are made, often amidst the shade of abundant trees and the sounds of laughter echoing from the river.

Sycamore Landing is celebrated by visitors as "by far our favorite place to float the Elk." Campers consistently appreciate the "lots of shade with ALL THE TREES!" which provides a welcome respite during warmer months. The campsites are noted for being "fairly large & can hold the amount they designate on the website," making it suitable for groups. While it's acknowledged that the campground is "next to the busy road, and right down the river from a bar that plays live music until 3 am," suggesting earplugs for early sleepers, the overall positive experience of float trips and the helpfulness of staff, who "come around with firewood and ice throughout the day," are strong draws. Despite some navigational challenges for first-timers and suggestions for more showers, many express a desire to "come back and camp here again," highlighting its undeniable appeal as a float trip and camping base.

Location and Accessibility

Sycamore Landing is located at 520 N Cliffside Dr, Noel, MO 64854, USA. This places it directly in Noel, a well-known hub for float trips and outdoor recreation in Southwest Missouri. Noel is situated along Missouri State Highway 59, making it a relatively accessible destination for many Missourians, particularly those from the western and southern parts of the state. It's part of the wider Ozarks region, famous for its rolling hills, clear rivers, and abundant natural beauty.

The campground's proximity to MO-59 means easy access, though it also implies proximity to road noise, as noted by some reviewers. Its location directly on the Elk River is a significant advantage for float trip enthusiasts, as guests can often put in or take out directly from the campground. While some visitors have mentioned minor difficulties locating the entrance after dark, especially if arriving for the first time, staff are available to provide assistance, ensuring a safe arrival. Being in Noel also means campers are near local amenities, including small shops, eateries, and other float trip outfitters along the Elk River. This blend of convenient access and immersive river experience makes Sycamore Landing a prime choice for those looking to enjoy the best of the Ozarks.

This is by far our favorite place to float the Elk. Loved the surroundings, lots of shade with ALL THE TREES! The campsites are fairly large & can hold the amount they designate on the website. Check in was easy, but not a lot of information was given. Like most of the Elk resorts it does lie next to the busy road, and right down the river from a bar that plays live music until 3am (so bring ear plugs if you like to go to bed early-ish) So why I gave it only 4 stars & not 5.... because after a long day on the river... you have NO IDEA where your exit out point is. NO SIGNS! We got back about 7pm (river was running real slow) & I noticed similar rafts at an exit... we pulled over and asked.. we were right... BUT several of our party who were ahead of us floated right past because there is no SIGNS! NO ONE SAYING HEY TIME TO GET OUT. 15 of our party floated another mile to River Ranch and had to be bussed back due to this issue. We will be back & this time we'll know where we have to get out... but even some info at check in would have been lovely. Another bathroom/shower would be nice, the port-a-potties stationed around the campground where nasty.

Camped at an electric site a bit ago with 3 other people. We arrived after sundown and it took us awhile to actually locate the Landing. After a few calls we got connected with a staff that got us safely to camp. Bathroom and shower house was pretty clean (I can confirm on the men's and the lady of my party says so about the women's). The staff come around with firewood and ice throughout the day which is super nice. I would come back and camp here again, but next time I would try a different kind of campsite or plan my trip over different days.
