Me and my friend went for one night, which we hoped would be peaceful and enjoyable. From the map view, it looks like there is water access pretty close but the closest beach is about a 15-20 minute walk at least. When we arrived at the camp site, we found our spot. It hardly had any space for a tent and the parking space was bigger than our camp spot. Upon arrival, we noticed that the site wasn’t cleaned whatsoever. There was trash and plastic left in the fire pit and soda and ice were left on the bear cabinet. After cleaning that up, we had put our stuff in the bear box and setup camp and almost all was well. Later in the night we had left a drink out on the table and our neighbors reminded us that there were frequent bear sitings, so we moved it into the tent. Around 2 or 3 AM that night, we were woken up to the sound of the bear getting into our “bear-proof box” and ripping open the trash that HAD BEEN LEFT BY THE LAST PEOPLE. The bear continued circling our tent to for the next few hours following his snack on the trash. Luckily, we were safe and able to make it home the next day. When I mentioned the state of the campsite to the man at the office before leaving the property, he told me that the people before me were messy and did not offer any other insight or accommodation, not even an apology. If you were to plan a camping trip, I’d suggest going to a site where they put effort into providing you a clean space and less bear activity, especially for almost 50 dollars.
This campground is so fun! It's right next door to the beautiful, fun town of Tahoe City. The campground is also very close to the waters of beautiful Lake Tahoe. There are always lots of fun things to do nearby, good food, wifi all over the campground, lots of shade, showers, & bathrooms. There is usually a camp host to help facilitate your stay.
Would not return. Good location if you have a camper/small RV and you want to be right next to town. There are only two camp spots with a lake view, and the others are behind trees and houses. If you’re tent camping just know the road is 20-30ft from your tent, and there is road noise consistently through the night.
This is a beautiful spot to camp. The campsite has about 27 or 28 spots, easily navigated on foot. The campsite is right beside the town!! There's a paved path that leads into town along the edge of the lake, there are lights when night falls. let's say cooking isn't your thing, you are literally a walk away from downtown; there's a Safeway, coffee shops, restaurants Galore, some shopping, ice cream shops all within a short walk. The bathrooms are clean and well lit, I did not see any scary bugs. Hot water! coin operated showers with excellent water pressure and hot water. they are serious about their bare boxes. Keep all your food safe and you will be safe.
Small dog friendly campground in Tahoe City right on Lake Tahoe. Beautiful lake views and sunsets. Only downside was the lack of space between campsites (very little privacy) and distance to the road. Our campsite was literally right next to the road, so we could hear dads passing all night. Otherwise was a beautiful spot
