Great place to stay i just spent 30days at talona and i will most likely return. I felt rigjt at home with everyone in the camp being so friendly. It was a nice location right off the highway515 and close to jasper and ellijay. The owner John is very nice and the staff are also friendly & great at taking care of the grounds. Grass is always cut and clean. There are bathrooms and showers in the bathhouse. The sites as of 6/6/24 are around $950 mth full hookups and also tent sites available right on the creek with nice grass and water power available aswell. The only complaint i had overall was the roosters ๐, there are about 10 roosters around the grounds with dozens of chickens which i love chickens, but the roosters will competitively crow throughout the day from 530am to sundown almost nonstop. My space was closest to them. But next time i would recomend a space closer to the creek. Contact john and get a space booked.
We were at Talona Creek for a month. We usually stay at parks for several months at a time because of my husband's job and I think several staying here has the same kind of jobs. This was the only place we could find an availability for long term stays, thankfully another place closer to where we needed opened up. This place for us was $600 for 50 amp a month(which for the park seems over priced, but it does includes water and power, I say seems over priced because this was the most expensive place we have ever stayed and probably the most lacking and run down looking). The place we are at now is $595 which includes utilities too, but it also includes internet, several channels of cable tv, a fully gravel site, a nice play ground, and a pool. Anyway, the area around the rv parks is nice and kinda secluded. We personally had a great neighbor, which was our perk while there. We never had anyone mess with our stuff. If you like the outdoors this is a good place for you, they do offer tent areas. One side of the park is the creek and the other side is horses, which both were very pleasing to look at. It was really pretty when it snowed. The park is small, laid back and looks like there are several long time residents and they do not care about the age of the rv like some parks. It is actually the first rv park we stayed at that had chickens(one is a rooster and he does alert you a few times a day) and cats running freely. They do allow dogs to be on lines out by themselves (there is some barking) if that is something your looking for, I know most parks dont allow this. We only saw adults here, but there is a play area. There is no internet options like most places offer and we could not get any local channels to come in only like ion, a couple shopping channels, i guess it was pbs and a Spanish speaking channel We ended up getting dish(it has monthly options for rvs and they said if you have a Dish agreement it would only be $7 for the rv but we did have to buy a receiver) cause we thought we would be there a while so if tv is important come prepared. Cell service was always pretty good. Unfortunately, it rained almost the whole time we were there so this made our month miserable. We were on lot 8 and it flooded every time it rained for a while and so did others on our side of the park. The first flood was about just above ankle deep. The guy who runs the place was made aware, but he was snappy about it which is not a very good way to run a business and honestly we thought it was shaddy they didnt make us aware this was going to happen if it rains. After it stopped raining the water went down pretty fast because they do have have some pipes to try and drain the water they just aren't sufficient when it rains heavily for a while. When the water drains it would smell like sewage. It was a muddy mess all the time. So if you go in the rainy season and stay on the creek side especially around lot 8 be prepared, bring bricks to make a walking path and rain boots. This is also one reason we were glad to stay only a month, it is kinda nasty when you think of what we might have been tracking in and where your water hose is plugged up is sitting in a puddle of that water for days cause the place for it is down in the ground a little so it hold water. The creek never flooded, just some sites. There is a train track that is on the opposite side of the creek, but it only ran one to two times a week while we were there. There is also a lot of 18 wheeler traffic that can be loud, but it is the only traffic you really hear. This place could use a good amount of tlc like for the flooding, it has great potential because it is a pretty setting. Something else we usually want to know at a new place is where the nearest shopping and there is plenty of shopping and restaurants just a few miles down the road in both directionsThere is a barbecue place you will pass as you are going to the park. If you are here checking the area out, make sure to go to Ellijay and drive up Fort Mountain it is so beautiful.
Lovely place has great facilities is pet friendly, you do have to leash the dogs though, I absolutely love the managers and owner the support they gave during a unsafe situation and removed the problem as fast as they could, they helped with firewood and offered other help . This place is truly amazing
Restrooms were not very clean, there were locks of hair strewn about the floor. Toilet paper quality was good, but quantity was lacking. Campsite itself was okay, but the spot we got had an exposed metal pipe (slightly rusted, a foot in diameter). Probably not camping here again.
Not worth $950 a month, especially when you have to dig your own trenches and clean out drainage pipes because you are up to your calves in water and mud. We had to buy over $100 worth of stepping stones just to get out of our camper. The power went out on our side of the park one night bc of the breaker tripping and my boyfriend had to take care of it, no help from staff at all. The good part of the park is the views and how welcoming they are to pets- other than that itโs a mud pit. Two stars because the guy replied quickly and it gave us a place to stay. Also, the chicks poop all over your vehicle. CHICKENS EVERYWHERE.
