We stayed in Cabin #4 over Spring Break. We arrived late on Saturday evening and the cabin was unlocked and the front porch light was on as we had been told. However, when I went to the bathroom to start a warm bath for my daughter the bathtub was in serious need of fixing--it had stains on the bathtub surface making it look dirty (my son immediately exclaimed that he was NOT taking a bath in the bathtub). When I went to run the water there was no hot water. In this area of the canyon there is no cell phone service so my husband and I walked over to the owner's house and was not able to find anyone. So, we spent that night without hot water. The next morning we were quite chilly in the cabin and the thermostat (which is very old and broken) didn't seem to be adjusting or having any affect on the temperature inside the cabin. We went back to the owner's house but still couldn't find anyone so I left a note and then I went into town and called the 1-800 number for the cabins and left a message. It was not until after lunch that day that someone came by and said that the water heater was not working and that the cabin was heated by hot water running through the floor and he couldn't have someone over to fix it until the next morning (so one more day without heat or hot water). He gave us the key to the cabin next door so we could use the showers over there. Ultimately, the hot water was not fixed while we were there (four nights). I think the most frustrating part was that we were told that our cabin would be ready for us before we arrived--I would assume that you would check the water and heat prior to guests arriving. However this was not the case. Additionally, the kitchen was not well equipped. There were three bowls, a few cups, and many cooking utensils were absent (e.g., measuring cups, measuring spoons, pizza cutter, etc.). I ended up going to town to buy bowls and cups as well as measuring cups/spoons so that I could cook dinner in the cabin's kitchen. Overall, these cabins are in a GREAT location and have a beautiful view of the creek and nature. However, the cabin needs some repair--the furniture is older and looking a little worse for the wear, there are places on the wall that need repair in the bathroom, the window coverings/hardware in the bedrooms need to be replaced, and some light bulbs need replacing. I guess I have higher expectations when paying almost 200 a night for a place. Ultimately, the owner worked with us on adjusting the price due to the lack of hot water and heat. I would not recommend going back to these cabins at this point, which is unfortunate because they really are in a great location and have a lot of potential.

The location is nice but the cabins have not been touched since we stayed there 12 years ago. The cabins need paint, the furniture is old, the bedding is a minimum of 10 years old, and they were not cleaned well. We stayed with 3 other couples and we all agreed we will not stay there again. The faded tattered sign out front tells you everything you need to know about the condition of the cabins.

Perfect place if you are looking to relax. Had never seen pictures prior to staying the weekend, couldn't have been more satisfied. View is absolutely beautiful, creek flows right through the yard. Beautiful waterfall to hike to. Brought my two dogs, 3 kids and our ferret. Everyone was in bliss, my dogs who are terrified of the water, jumped right in the creek and couldn't have been happier. I can't wait to come back.

Borders on the Kit Carson National Forest, with hiking trails, and beautiful trees. Lovely mountain cabin with a deck facing the woods. The kids had lots of room to run and explore. Fully furnished kitchen, comfortable beds, clean, everything worked. Quiet. Reasonable price, good value. We will go back. Its about five minutes from Taos, so it's handy to all the attractions but away from the tourist traffic and noise.

Had an amazing trip! The cabin was awesome with the creek right outside the back porch. The grounds are wonderful and very dog friendly. Will defiantly be coming back!
