Family Camping Activities for All Ages: Games, Hiking, and Campfire Fun
Explore family camping activities that bring all ages together, from outdoor games and scenic hikes to memorable campfire fun that creates lasting memories.
Tar Hollow State Park Resident Camp, located in Kingston, OH 45644, offers a unique blend of a historic event center and a rustic summer camp experience within the Campgrounds & RV Parks category. This location provides a distinct setting for various events and traditional camping activities.
The central feature of the camp is the "lodge," a building equipped with a full cafeteria kitchen, two open restrooms, and a large fireplace. It also includes a covered porch and a spacious open area, making it ideal for events such as weddings and parties. Outside, there is a basketball court and a small shelter.
The camp features electric cabins situated on two hills leading into the forest. These cabins are basic, designed for sleeping, and do not include amenities like refrigerators or air conditioning. Shower houses are located on either side of the cabin areas.
Behind the lodge, there is a building typically used as a medical bay, followed by a bonfire area, and further into the woods, an outdoor amphitheater. These facilities provide diverse spaces for various activities and events.
The camp is known for its rustic and traditional summer camp atmosphere. While it offers essential amenities, it is not a luxury experience. Guests should be prepared for a more basic and outdoor-oriented stay.

Very nice historic event center, first time there.
As a past 4H camper and employee, I can tell you everything you need to know about this place. People call it the "lodge," and splitting off of it are 2 hills with electric cabins (no, they dont have fridges or A/C they are literally just to sleep in. Cry me a river.) going both directions into the forest as well as a showerhouse on either side. There is a building behind the lodge that is usually reserved as a medical bay and even further behind that is a bonfire bay and even FURTHER back into the woods is the outdoor amphitheater which you would never even know about unless you've been back there. The lodge itself has a full cafeteria kitchen and 2 open restrooms as well as a massive fireplace. There's also a covered porch and giant open space perfect for weddings or parties. Also, they have a basketball court out front and a small shelter. The place is great, honestly, even if the lakewater scares me. Just dont go in expecting a "luxury" experience. It's a summer camp.
Great place. Spent the week there hunting at Tar Hollow State Park.
A great place for a big family reunions. Visited every 2 yrs since 1979. Great memories from childhood to adult. Hiking, fishing , kayaking, and games.
Beautiful park!
Beautiful place to explore and kick back to relax. Lots of nearby trails and sites to see. The local food is actually pretty good also.
