The BEST campground in the Black Hills. We have tent camped at the Sturgis Rally for over thirty years and have stayed at many campgrounds before finding this gem. Tent sites have trees, picnic tables, and trash cans. Restrooms are spotless and showers have hot water. Free coffee and donuts each morning greet us before we ride the hills. Owners and managers go out of their way to accommodate our needs. Prices are perfect and many friendships have been made over the years as folks just keep coming back here every year. You will not be disappointed and maybe we will see you next year!
I've been going to Sturgis for 30 years. I've stayed at a LOT of camp grounds. There are none better than the Back 40. These people are AWESOME! Flush Toilets, clean, hot showers, Coffee & donuts in the morning and most important, it's quiet after 10PM! We've met some incredible people at the Back 40. HIGHLY Recommend it.
This family owned rally campground is great. The bathrooms are clean and maintained. It's a relaxing setting away from the crowds and noise. The location is a plus. Only about a mile off the interstate and 13 or so miles from Sturgis.
The Back 40 is ideally located half-way between Sturgis and Rapid City. They are on the leeward side of a hill, so high winds are blocked to some degree. There are a LOT of GREAT places to eat nearby and they have coffee and donuts each morning. On top of that, they have Clean, hot showers and flush toilets. The only issue is finding a level place to camp, which hasn't ever been a problem in the 15 years we've been camping there. One flat rate for the week of Sturgis.
We stayed here for Sturgis 2021 and it was a great, quiet place to camp. We tent camped but they accommodated rv’s too. Ron was awesome to deal with. They even had rides to go on and cooked out one night.
