Welcome to Teanaway Campground, a beautiful camping destination situated within the expansive Teanaway Community Forest in Washington State. As part of the Campgrounds & RV Parks category, Teanaway Campground provides a fantastic base for experiencing the diverse landscapes and recreational opportunities of this unique area.
Environment:
The Teanaway Community Forest spans over 50,000 acres at the headwaters of the Yakima Basin watershed. This stunning landscape features nearly 400 miles of free-flowing streams, providing crucial habitat for fish and wildlife. Historically used for grazing and timber harvests, the forest now offers a blend of low-elevation forests, meadows, and access to higher elevation areas. You'll find picturesque river drainages, diverse vegetation, and even unique geological formations like sandstone towers. The area boasts striking views of the surrounding mountains, including Mt. Stuart and the Enchantments.
Services:
Teanaway Campground offers a more primitive camping experience, allowing you to immerse yourself in nature. Generally, the campground provides campsites with fire rings and picnic tables. Vault toilets are typically available for guest convenience. It's important to note that potable water is usually not provided at the campsites, so campers must bring their own water for drinking, cooking, and washing. Similarly, electricity hookups are not available. Some areas within the Teanaway Community Forest offer equestrian camping at designated campgrounds like Indian Camp and Teanaway Campground.
Features:
The primary feature of Teanaway Campground is its direct access to a wide range of outdoor activities within the Teanaway Community Forest. This includes:
- Hiking and Mountain Biking: Explore numerous existing trails, with potential for future expansion of sanctioned trail systems.
- Fishing: Enjoy fishing opportunities in the Teanaway River and its tributaries (subject to Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife regulations).
- Equestrian Activities: Designated campgrounds accommodate horseback riders with features like highlines.
- Wildlife Viewing and Birdwatching: The diverse habitats support a variety of wildlife and bird species.
- Scenic Views: Take in the breathtaking vistas of the surrounding mountains and valleys.

All time favorite place to go for camping!! So easy. You need a discover pass. Otherwise, you just show up, pick a spot, and happy camping. I'm an avid disc golfer and love there's a 9 hole course close to the campground. The river is really nice too. We took a couple of kayaks down the river and was great time!!
Teanaway Community Forest is a hidden gem. I almost don't want to say how nice this campground is to keep it from the masses. Who am I kidding, word is out. There are campsites for all types of campers, walk-in tent, trailers, motorhomes up to Class A, horse campers. Bathrooms are clean and sites range from heavily treed to open meadow to large group sites. Pack it in. Pack it out. Creek runs along backside of campground.
Nice free campsite. The bathrooms were pretty dirty but a beautiful area. Has the river running by. Pretty low that this time of year due to rainfall but definitely a nice spot for a few days week, I just overnighted
First time camping here. It was very nice, although a little chilly and quite windy. It has great areas for groups to informally join up. Nice short hiking opportunities. Curfew of 10 was kept. There was only a few spots open Friday. We were glad to have arrived Thursday when it was around half full and this was early May. Overall a great campground. No potable water. Nicely maintained vault toilets. Picnic tables at each site. Well suited for horse campers and mountain bike riders.
On our cross-country road trip from Georgia to Bellingham, this campground was by far our most favourite! We happened to be there for the first majorly hot day. Couldn’t have been more thrilled to have an epically cold river to dip into. And with all that dust kicking up from trucks driving by… and the pollen puffs that floated everywhere from early morning, it was incredible to wash off in the river. I found it was so odd to see few fire rings for the amount of tent space. For times like these when we need to keep distance from strangers, this campground has loads of space between each site. That was really great! Don’t forget to get your Discovery Pass! $30/annual fee. Oh and I don’t know if it depends on the carrier but we had no cell reception.
