🛣️ Introduction / Overview: Reliable Comfort Right Off the Interstate
For Texans traversing the busy I-30 corridor between Dallas and Little Rock, the **Texarkana KOA Journey** offers a highly valuable and reliable stopping point. As part of the nationally recognized KOA network, this campground delivers on the promise of quality and consistency that travelers depend on, especially when needing a safe, clean, and accessible overnight stay. One traveler, grateful for the familiar brand after an unexpected cancellation, noted, "They may be the more expensive option, but you know what you are getting." In this case, what visitors get is a "lovely pull through site right off the interstate in a well lit, well landscaped campground."
The Texarkana KOA Journey is expertly designed for travelers—its "Journey" designation implies convenience and ease for short-term stays, emphasizing accessibility for large RVs and trailers. The focus is on providing all the essential amenities for a comfortable rest, including full hookups, recreational opportunities like a pool and dog park, and friendly, helpful staff. While its proximity to the interstate means there is some audible traffic noise, the strategic layout places the campground "down in a little valley just enough so that it wasn’t awful," minimizing the intrusion and maximizing convenience. This campground serves as the perfect basecamp for exploring the unique border city of Texarkana or simply resting before continuing a long Texas road trip.

📍 Location and Accessibility: Gateway to the Twin Cities Region
The primary appeal of the Texarkana KOA Journey is its exceptional location for travelers, situated right at the junction of Texas and Arkansas, offering prime accessibility.
The physical address is **500 St Michael Dr, Texarkana, TX 75503, USA**.
The resort is located just moments off **Interstate 30**, a major east-west artery, and near **St. Michael Drive**, making entry and exit relatively straightforward, though some care may be needed when joining high-traffic lanes, as one customer noted difficulty "because of the traffic and angle" when exiting. The convenience of being directly off the interstate is, however, a massive benefit for those traveling with large rigs who prioritize easy access and minimal city driving. Its location in Texarkana, TX, places it near a variety of restaurants, shopping centers, and medical facilities, including the Wadley Regional Medical Center, ensuring that all traveler needs are within close reach. An unexpected cancellation of our reservation left us without a place to stay, so I was delighted to realize we were near a KOA. They may be the more expensive option, but you know what you are getting. In this case, we got a lovely pull through site right off the interstate in a well lit, well landscaped campground. The pool was open and the dog park was nearby. I enjoyed talking to the office staff who opened up the clubhouse/kitchen for us. There was noise from the interstate, but we were down in a little valley just enough so that it wasn’t awful. I believe we paid about $55 a night after the discount.
It is conveniently located, right off I-30. The directions provided by email were spot on. We made our reservation online because the staff at the 800# could not assist. We arrived at midnight and there wasn’t an envelope because we reserved so late. The campground was clean, beautiful and easily maneuverable. Our 35’ travel trailer fit perfectly in pull-through site A9. Unfortunately, the restroom/laundry room code provided was not working. Thankfully we were able to shower in our camper. It is extremely difficult to exit this location because of the traffic and angle.
We chose this KOA because we were passing through the area on a RV road trip. It was very conveniently located off the interstate. We could hear the interstate traffic, but it didn’t bother us. We didn’t have a long stay. The laundry and bathroom facilities were very clean and safe with a code needed for entry. While it wasn’t updated, it served the purpose for a one night stay. The playground could use a facelift, but again, we didn’t come here for a long stay. If you need a quick in & out with a RV, this will be a great fit! The pull through sites worked beautifully. We didn’t interact with the staff as we arrived after office hours. The information we needed was available and helpful. Thanks for the one night stay!
This was my fifth KOA rustic cabin stay on this month long trip. It seems that each place puts their own little twist on their rustic cabins, which is kind of nice. This one had the full-size bed and set of bunk beds, which surprisingly had Linens. Another nice touch was towels, body wash, shampoo & conditioner were in the cabin for our use. No other KOA had that!! And it was a little more decorative in having colored curtains that match the Linens rather than blinds. Some others have had microwaves and mini refrigerators as well as TVs, but this one, like some of the others, did not. And that was fine. I was already expecting that. I was traveling with my full-size dually pickup truck and a 14-foot motorcycle trailer. This location there was not enough room for me to park both by the cabin. Not even if I backed in the trailer disconnected it and then backed in the truck next to it. They have an overflow, which was about 60 yards ish from the cabin where I had to park. However, the previous locations I've stayed at went out of their way when they saw what I had to make sure I could park as close to my cabin as possible. Which was next to it every time. One location even had me use a vacant RV rental site that was directly next to my cabin as they had several that were unoccupied. So here at this location I asked the young lady inside since they had 13 vacant pull through RV sites, one of which was directly next to my cabin, if I could park my truck and trailer there. She told me no, I could not. And it's the reason behind it that blows my mind. She said that the manager doesn't like that because if somebody comes in after hours and I'm in that spot, they lose the revenue for that spot. Don't get me wrong, I 100% agree, and that makes sense. However, they have 13 vacant pull throughs that I could see right by my cabin. I highly doubt it that 13 people were going to come in after hours. The employees should be allowed a little more discretion than that, in my opinion. But she did as she was told to do so I don't hold her accountable for that at all that I put on the management. It's not very accommodating to your rewards members. Also, later on, my wife told me that when she took our dog to the pet area, she picked up at least six piles of dog poop in the area. I guess that's not highly enforced here. Overall this is a very nice KOA and a little touches in The Rustic cabin are nice however due to their rigid stance on the parking which to me is a lack of customer service especially like I said to the rewards members I won't be back at this location ever again.
Really nice clean cabins and facility. It is close to the highway and you can hear highway noise along with a train. With that said, we had a loud fan that blocked it all. They have nice memory foam beds. They provided linen which was a very nice surprise.
