Thatcher Campground is described as a beautiful location, offering a good alternative when campgrounds closer to Stanley and Stanley Lake are full, even during peak times like the 4th of July weekend. With only 5 campsites, it provides a more secluded atmosphere. However, it's worth noting that the campsites closer to the highway may lack significant shade.
Amenities at Thatcher Campground are basic. There is a restroom located in the turnaround area, and water is available via a hand pump situated about halfway into the campground. It's important to be aware that there is no trash collection service or receptacles provided, so a "pack it in, pack it out" policy is strictly enforced. The campground is managed by the Challis National Forest and typically does not have a host on site.

Beautiful campground. Not a lot of shade in the spots closer to the highway. Restroom located in the turn around. Water available via pump about halfway in. No trash collection or receptacles, pack in, pack out. This campground is a good go to when spots closer to Stanley and Stanley Lake fill up. Gone up numerous 4th of July weekends to find a spot here. Pretty amazing considering there are only 5 campsites. Motorcycle camping friendly. Just a short drive to Stanley. No cell service here. Bring bug spray as the mosquitoes will be out and about, worse from about 4 PM to 8 PM. Will be back!
Only 5 sites, managed by the Challis NF, no host. $10/$5 senior. Small vault toilet, hand water pump, but no dumpster. No cell signal Tmobile
Great campground with only five spots. Has a toilet and is $10 a day, max 16 days. Terrific views from east side spots.
