The Bank Campground Introduce

Welcome to The Bank Campground, a part of the Campgrounds & RV Parks category, situated on Unnamed Road in Cañon City, Colorado (81212). You can reach them at (719) 269-8500 or +1 719-269-8500 for inquiries.

Based on customer reviews, The Bank Campground offers a generally well-maintained environment, making it a convenient option for those who prefer making reservations. It appears that the B side of the campground features larger camping spaces compared to the A side. Campers can expect vault restrooms that are reported to be in acceptable condition.

A notable feature of the B side is the presence of durable concrete picnic tables at the campsites. The location is described as very dry, which is seen as a positive aspect for those wishing to avoid mosquitos. However, it's important to note that the campground lacks big trees and natural shade, which also means there are limited opportunities for setting up hammocks.

Campers are strongly reminded to practice responsible waste management by taking all trash with them when they leave, including pet waste. This helps maintain the cleanliness and natural beauty of the area.

While generally well-maintained, some campsites, such as Campsite 1, may have rocky ground with shallow layers of dirt, potentially making tent staking challenging in certain spots. It's also worth being aware that during late summer, there may be a presence of ants and large cacti in the area. One reviewer noted that some campsites are located close to cliff edges with significant drop-offs and without warning signs or fences, which could pose a safety concern, especially at night or for those with dogs.

The Bank Campground is particularly well-located for individuals planning to visit Shelf Road for climbing activities. The surrounding scenery is described as beautiful, and the area is noted as a nice spot for stargazing due to the open environment.

The campground provides multiple public vault restrooms that are stocked with toilet paper for the convenience of visitors.

Looks like the B side has bigger camping spaces than A side. Vault restrooms were ok. The picnic tables on B are great, made of concrete. Very dry location is a plus for no mosquitos. But no big trees or shades, no place for hammocks. Please take home all our trash including poop bags !!!!

Overall well-maintained site and convenient for those who like making reservations. Our campsite was on an edge of a cliff, too close to a drop-off with no warning signs or fences - could be dangerous at night, especially for dogs. The ground was rocky with shallow layers of dirt (at least at Campsite 1), making it difficult to stake our tent on the ground in multiple spots. We camped late summer and there were lots of ants and large cacti - fine for us but wanted to share that info especially for those who have allergic reaction to ant bites. Great location if you plan to camp for Shelf Rd climbing. There are multiple public vault restrooms stocked with toilet paper. Beautiful scenery. Nice area for stargazing.

Amazing views from the A-Loop campsites but the Biting Flies were as thick as... flies. (The Gnats were incessant too.) So essentially, it made the time from mid-day till 7pm really difficult to enjoy there in the campground. For our next two days, we made sure to be gone by then. We had stayed in sand gulch just down the road, over Labor Day and had problems with the flies also but we're hoping that they wouldn't be as bad earlier in the summer. We were wrong. We stayed in site A2 which was a decent site and convenient to one of the vault toilets. Not a lot of privacy as site A1 shared the same general area for its picnic table and fire ring as our site did. Another key thing to know is that the majority of the tent pads in the A loop are 9' square, which is smaller than normal in Colorado. There was no way we were going to be able to fit our hexagonal shaped tent on that tent pad. So we had to find some open space and that was still difficult to work with because there are a lot of rough, unevenly shaped rocks embedded in the ground all over the campsite which we couldn't avoid.

One of my favorite places to camp and climb. The campground had everything you'd want (beautiful view, clean bathrooms, etc), and the climbing and hiking in this area is a lot of fun.

Great views of a nearby canyon. Pull-through sites. The dirt road getting there is heavily washboarded, unfortunately.
