The Bellefonte Campground Introduce
The Bellefonte Campground, a newly established and highly-rated destination in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, stands out within the "Campgrounds & RV Parks" category by offering a harmonious blend of modern amenities and natural tranquility. This campground provides a variety of lodging options and services designed to create an exceptional and hassle-free camping experience for a diverse range of guests, from families and couples to outdoor enthusiasts and those visiting local attractions.
The environment at The Bellefonte Campground is characterized by its serene and picturesque setting within central Pennsylvania. Spanning close to 40 acres, the campground is surrounded by woodlands and features wide-open spaces, providing a peaceful retreat. While situated in a rural location, it offers convenient access to major interstates (I-80 and I-99), making it easily reachable. The landscape encompasses rolling hills and wooded areas, contributing to a natural and inviting atmosphere. Many sites are designed to offer a sense of privacy and connection with nature, allowing campers to relax and unwind amidst the beauty of the Alleghenies. Despite being relatively new, the campground has already made significant improvements to its grounds, including road drainage and gravel, enhancing the overall aesthetic and functionality. The presence of friendly farm animals, such as goats, adds a charming touch to the pastoral environment. The overall ambiance is quiet and well-maintained, promoting a relaxing stay for all visitors.
The Bellefonte Campground prides itself on offering modern and comprehensive services and accommodations. For RV enthusiasts, there are nearly 70 spacious sites, including both pull-through and back-in options. These sites can accommodate vehicles ranging from 35 to 60 feet and come with a choice of 30-amp or 30/50-amp electric service. Most pull-through sites provide full hookups (water, sewer, and electric), ensuring maximum convenience, while back-in sites offer options with water and electric only or full hookups. Each RV site includes a picnic table and a fire ring, perfect for outdoor cooking and gathering. For a unique experience, the campground offers distinct "Camper Rentals," including a vintage 1975 Airstream that combines retro charm with modern comforts and a spacious 36-foot camper, both featuring heat/AC, full kitchens, picnic tables, and fire rings. Additionally, new cabins are available for rent. These include Premier Cabins with two bedrooms and a loft, a fully equipped kitchen, and a living area, ideal for families, and Deluxe Cabins with one bedroom and a loft, also with a kitchen, suitable for couples. Essential amenities for all guests include clean, well-maintained restrooms and showers. Wi-Fi is available throughout the campground, allowing guests to stay connected. For guest convenience, firewood is available for purchase on-site. The campground is notably pet-friendly, welcoming dogs (with some weight and breed restrictions and an associated fee), and even provides an off-leash area for pets. Daily housekeeping is offered for cabin rentals, and there are limited-hour front desk services for assistance. Trash pick-up is also available at the edge of sites during specific hours, and a dump station is on-site.
The Bellefonte Campground distinguishes itself with a variety of features and recreational opportunities designed to entertain guests of all ages. A major highlight is the heated pool and splash pad, open seasonally (typically Memorial Day to Labor Day weekend), providing a refreshing way to cool off. The campground boasts its own bike park, offering various paths with different levels of difficulty for mountain biking enthusiasts. For those who enjoy fishing, there's a stocked fishing pond (catch and release only) where no license is required for registered guests. Other outdoor activities include two playgrounds, a sports area with basketball, horseshoes, sand volleyball, batt midden, and tetherball. The campground also features a "Black Bear Mining Sluice" for gem and fossil finding, adding a fun, interactive element. Beyond on-site amenities, The Bellefonte Campground serves as an excellent basecamp for exploring the surrounding Central Pennsylvania attractions. It is conveniently located just 15 minutes from Penn State University, allowing easy access to football games, university events, and museums. Nearby natural attractions include Bald Eagle State Park, which offers extensive hiking trails, wildlife spotting, and a 14,000-acre lake (Sawyer Dam) for fishing and boating. Other local points of interest include Spring Creek for fly fishing, Penn's Cave (America's only all-water cavern and wildlife sanctuary), Woodward Cave, Victorian Bellefonte with its historic railroad, and Curtin Village, an iron-works plantation from the 1800s. The campground also organizes a variety of planned activities and events, particularly on Saturdays between Memorial Day and Labor Day and during special holiday weekends, which may include arts and crafts, ice cream socials, hayrides, and more, fostering a lively community atmosphere.
From a promotional perspective, The Bellefonte Campground emphasizes its modern facilities, strategic location, and family-friendly atmosphere. Rates vary by site type and season. While specific current pricing can fluctuate, typical rates for RV and tent sites are competitive for the region, with additional charges for extra occupants or pets. Cabin and unique camper rentals have higher rates reflective of their amenities. The campground offers various discounts, including for military, first responders, medical professionals, teachers, AAA, AARP, and members of organizations like KOA, Good Sam, and Harvest Hosts, making it accessible to a wide audience. Reservations are strongly encouraged, especially during peak season, holiday weekends, and major Penn State events (like the Blue-White Game, Graduation, or Arts Festival), for which specific cancellation policies with longer notice periods apply. Generally, cancellations require a processing fee and must be made well in advance for a partial refund. Check-in is typically after 2:00 PM, and check-out is by 11:00 AM, with late check-in procedures in place for arrivals outside office hours. The campground frequently updates its social media channels and website to promote special events and new offerings, such as the newly available cabins and improved facilities. The campground is clearly marketed as a place for a relaxing getaway with abundant opportunities for outdoor recreation and easy access to cultural and historical sites, all while ensuring a comfortable and well-serviced stay.

Customer Reviews
We stayed in one of the cabins last summer when we came to watch the Little League World Series. It was the perfect place for us to stay. Loved the cabin, very clean. Beds were very comfortable and the campground was quiet. Beautiful scenic views as well. Hot tub was a surprise bonus for us.
We had an amazing experience at Bellafonte Campground and we stayed in the yurt dome. It was beautiful and comfortable! It has its own separate bathroom/shower/sauna adjacent to the yurt. The campground itself is lush and pretty with a playground, walking trails and other amenities plus a store with snacks, ice, etc. The price was very reasonable especially for such a lovely place. Thank you, we enjoyed our stay so much and if we're ever in the area again we'll be back!
We enjoyed the Campground. They are really putting a lot of work in it. We did a nice pull-thur full hook up site. Prices were good , views were nice. Would definitely stay again. We would highly recommend it to our friends. We did not use bathhouse so can not comment on that. Loved all the cabins and A Frames they have put in.
We booked a cabin to visit with friends. It was such a cute cabin for 4 of us. The hot tub was great even in the rain. The supplied some coffee pods and creamer which was a great treat. The campground was quiet, clean and helpful when needed. We would definitely consider another trip and hoping for better weather. Thanks
We arrived after hours in a pouring rainstorm and although the office was closed, Brandon came out to meet us. He brought us inside the office and checked us in and then stood in the rain to spot us as we turned around to head to our campsite. Park is very nicely organized, the utilities have been upgraded and the site was reasonably level. Only stayed for one night. We definitely come back if in the area. Looks like a lot of activities for kids plus a pickleball court!
