The Byrd's Nest RV Park & Cabins in Hemphill, TX, has established itself as a straightforward, full-service home base that perfectly caters to both the weekend angler and the long-term traveler. This is a destination built by and for people who prioritize easy lake access, essential amenities, and a friendly, quiet atmosphere.
Located on the Texas side of the massive Toledo Bend, The Byrd's Nest offers a dual accommodation strategy: dedicated, full hookup RV spots and cozy, fully appointed cabins. This flexibility ensures that whether you're rolling up in a Big Rig for a month of work or bringing the family for a cabin getaway, you'll find a suitable 'nest' here. The focus is squarely on providing convenience—from on-site laundry facilities to a boat launch with low-water access—to ensure your time is spent enjoying East Texas and the lake, not dealing with logistics.
Guests often praise the park’s management for its attentive and friendly service, creating a genuine sense of community. The quiet, affordable, and convenient nature of the park makes it a popular choice for both local workers needing a reliable base and tourists seeking relaxation. The park is continuously working to enhance the guest experience, dedicating itself to being a top-notch option in the mid-lake region of this spectacular Texas/Louisiana border destination.

Customer Reviews
I've stayed in a lot of RV parks as of 2006 traveling for work. Work here is spuratic, at the most. When it is, better get it while you can. I would tell anyone, working here or not, to most definitely stay here. 100%. Awesome people here. I have "0" complaints about any of my time of stay here. Affordable, convenient, and quiet. I love it here.
We stayed in a cabin. Everything was more than I expected except the cabin had an old oder to it but a candle or air freshener made it more enjoyable. It was very clean and had everything you needed in the kitchen and towels and bedding included.
Okay, so we stayed last year at one of the cabins, it was nasty. We vowed to never go back. This year we stayed at a different place in our camper. Our friends in spite of our warning, opted to stay where we did last year. It was even worse. Nothing had been cleaned since the last guest had stayed there! It was even worse than it was last year. Cobwebs, musty smelling, the toilet had not been cleaned from the last stay. It is a nice location on the lake, but I require any place I stay to be cleaned before I get there personally. If you’re into clean stays, I would definitely not recommend the cabins. The RV spots are to close together also. UPDATE: To the response below, there is not another reason. I gave a pass on reviewing last year in hopes the uncleanliness was a fluke. It was not, we spent an hour cleaning our friends cabin before they could even move their stuff in. I have stayed in countless hotels and VRBO's, I'm not a have to be able to eat off the floor kind of person. But things need to be reasonably clean and it was not. To your point, you do have mostly good reviews even if most are over a year old. That being said, you'll get more like this if you don't improve dramatically.
One of my favorite places in East Texas! Such great views and amazing sunsets. Keith and Kelley are always improving the park and are extremely helpful. I’ve met wonderful and friendly people at their park that are life long friends. Great location on Toledo Bend as well. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We had a great stay here at The Byrd’s Nest! We loved the private porch and lake access. It was so nice and peaceful. Clean, cozy cabins with owners onsite for additional accommodations as needed. We would happily go back.
