I felt like I was constantly being told what to do and where to go at Disney. Too many rules! For $10,000, I expected more freedom and less of a "herded" feeling. Getting around the huge campsite was a hassle – long waits for buses, and even longer to get anywhere. Forgetting our dining card and having to go back was a nightmare. I even got scolded by a staff member for driving where I wasn't supposed to. Too much control for the money, plus long lines and short rides.
We always have a great time here. Fantastic RV spots, super friendly and helpful staff. Fireworks every night, boats to almost all the resorts, and buses to the others. We've done both the cabins and brought our fifth wheel – it's a blast! The kids love it! Lots of people decorate their campsites, so at night, you can cruise around in a golf cart and see a holiday light parade before the fireworks at the beach!
We were lucky to get a spot right next to a comfort station (bathrooms, showers, laundry). We had a blast! Nine of us in two tents and a pop-up camper had plenty of room, including space for two vehicles and two golf carts. It's very dark at night, so bring plenty of lights. Rent a golf cart ASAP, because the property is HUGE! All the staff were friendly, and the nature was beautiful! Watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the docks – it's magical!
We had a lot of fun at Fort Wilderness for Christmas. We stayed in a cozy cabin that was perfect for the five of us. It had a kitchenette and a small living room. There were pull-out beds and a bedroom with a bed and bunk beds. Reserve a golf cart up to 30 days in advance – you'll need it! You can take a boat across the lake to Walt Disney World. It's a lovely ride where you see other resorts and wildlife. There's a store for supplies and a dining hall (the food is decent). They offer activities like horseback riding and boating, and you can use Disney transportation.
If I wanted mediocre service, I'd stay at a cheap hotel. At Disney prices, I expect Disney service. My last trip at Christmas confirmed I won't be back. We've camped here for 15+ years, and since Covid, I've had to force my family to come because the service, amenities, and FREE activities have declined. Having to insure my golf cart (that's not street legal) is ridiculous. If I wasn't tied to DVC, I'd never come back to Disney. Do better, Disney.
